Description
Miyo Takano, born Miyoko Tanashi, is the primary antagonist of the second season of the horror mystery series. She serves as a nurse at the Irie Clinic in the village of Hinamizawa, but this role is a cover for her true identity as a high-ranking official in a clandestine government organization and the employer of a secret paramilitary unit known as the Mountain Hounds. She is the mastermind behind the so-called curse of Oyashiro-sama that plagues the village.
Her background is defined by profound tragedy. She experienced a happy early childhood until her parents died in a car accident, after which she was sent to an abusive orphanage she refers to as a war orphanage. After a failed escape attempt, she was rescued and adopted by Hifumi Takano, a researcher who was studying a mysterious illness endemic to the region, the Hinamizawa Syndrome. When Hifumi was ridiculed by government officials and his work dismissed, and after his subsequent death, Miyo became obsessed with validating his legacy.
