Description
Jiro Tomitake is introduced as a freelance photographer who visits the village of Hinamizawa several times a year, often around the Watanagashi Festival, under the pretense of photographing local wild birds. He is on friendly terms with many of the villagers, including Mion Sonozaki and Rena Ryugu, and is known for his cheerful, approachable manner. In truth, Tomitake Jiro is an alias used as a cover for his work as an auditor and liaison for a secret military-related organization known as Tokyo. In this capacity, he acts as a connection between the organization and the Irie Clinic, where he is responsible for allocating the budget for research on Hinamizawa Syndrome.
Tomitake possesses a warm, easygoing, and somewhat carefree personality, often laughing off tense situations or deflecting serious questions with a false laugh. He is curious and acts on impulse, which sometimes creates a disconnect between his lighthearted attitude and the underlying danger in the village.
