In public, she presents herself as a cheerful and friendly woman with a keen interest in local folklore, often telling unsettling stories about Hinamizawa's past and the curse of Oyashiro-sama. However, her true personality is cold, calculating, and ruthless. She cares deeply only for the memory of her grandfather and her desire to leave a permanent mark on the world, which she considers a form of godhood. Her primary motivation is to validate and complete Hifumi Takano's research on the Hinamizawa Syndrome, particularly the Queen Carrier theory involving Rika Furude. To achieve this, she orchestrates a series of murders and disappearances attributed to a supposed curse, fakes her own death in the early story arcs using a stolen corpse, and manipulates the fears and suspicions of the villagers. She directly causes Rika's death in multiple timelines as part of her plan to trigger the Great Hinamizawa Disaster, a mass poisoning intended to erase evidence of the syndrome and demonstrate the validity of her grandfather's work. Miyo shows no supernatural abilities but is highly intelligent and skilled in psychological warfare, deceit, and strategic planning.
