Navier Ellie Trovi is the central protagonist of The Remarried Empress. She comes from the House of Trovi, a noble ducal family of the Eastern Empire known for having produced many empresses. From a young age she was chosen as the future crown princess and raised specifically for that role, so her entire upbringing was devoted to becoming an empress and ruling well. She marries Emperor Sovieshu, whom she has known since childhood, and serves as the Empress of the Eastern Empire when the story begins. She is regarded as an ideal empress by her country, and she carries herself with the poise expected of her position.

In personality, Navier is composed, methodical, and deeply disciplined. She thinks in a practical and logical way, rarely shows her emotions in public, and tends not to involve herself in matters that do not concern her. Her controlled exterior masks a strong sense of duty and personal pride, but she is also capable of warmth. During her years in the Eastern court she acted as a caring, almost maternal figure to a young girl close to the palace, offering praise for the girl's achievements, checking on her well-being, comforting her in difficult moments, and worrying about her future.

Navier's central motivation is to preserve her identity and position as an empress, the calling for which she was trained her entire life. Her life takes an unexpected turn because she is believed unable to bear children, so Sovieshu brings a former slave named Rashta into the palace as a concubine to secure an heir. Sovieshu gradually falls in love with Rashta, neglects Navier, and eventually demands a divorce while claiming it will only be temporary. Instead of pleading or allowing herself to be discarded quietly, Navier accepts the divorce on her own terms and requests approval to remarry Heinrey, a prince of the Western Kingdom, allowing her to keep her title and her lifelong dream.

Her relationship with Heinrey defines the second half of her story. He had already fallen for her in secret, having come to know her while using his shapeshifting ability in the form of a bird. What begins as a surprising political marriage grows into genuine trust, affection, and partnership, and Navier becomes the Empress of the Western Empire once Heinrey ascends to a higher throne. Her relationship with Sovieshu, by contrast, moves from childhood friendship and mutual trust to alienation and rivalry, while Rashta becomes her chief opponent in the palace.

Over the course of the narrative, Navier develops from a dutiful and emotionally guarded empress who endures her husband's betrayal into a decisive woman who takes control of her own future. She carries the discipline and dignity of her training into her new life, but she gradually learns to trust again and to open herself to real love through her marriage to Heinrey. Beyond her political skill, diplomatic composure, and administrative competence, Navier also possesses a notable supernatural ability: after being exposed to magic stones, she becomes a late-blooming ice mage, a power that sets her apart and plays a meaningful role in the conflicts she faces.
