Hibana, formerly known as Sister Hibana, grew up an orphan at the Holy Sol Temple alongside Iris. From childhood, she wielded pyrokinetic abilities, blooming colorful fiery flowers that delighted the other sisters despite her own lack of religious devotion. A catastrophic fire consumed the temple, killing all residents except Hibana and Iris. This tragedy shattered Hibana's faith in the Sun God, cementing her view of fire as purely destructive and igniting a fierce desire for revenge. She saw her survival—despite being the least devout—as irrefutable proof of divine absence. After the temple's destruction, Hibana abandoned Iris to pursue power and vengeance. She conducted extensive research on Infernals, selling her findings to Haijima Industries. This secured her funding and appointment as Captain of the Special Fire Force Company 5, where she adopted the self-proclaimed title "Princess Hibana." This era forged a deceptive, sadistic, and manipulative personality; she wielded charm and rank to dominate others, viewed comrades as expendable tools, and inflicted pain on captured Infernals during experiments, believing combating evil required becoming evil. Her encounter with Shinra Kusakabe of Company 8 proved pivotal. Witnessing his heroic use of fire challenged her perception of flames as solely destructive, stirring memories of her childhood self. Following their confrontation, she gradually reverted to her earlier, kinder nature while retaining her vengeful resolve. Hibana became more open with her emotions, developing unspoken romantic feelings for Shinra and actively supporting Company 8's investigations. She also rekindled her bond with Iris, often masking caring actions behind prideful excuses. As a Third Generation pyrokinetic, Hibana creates and manipulates flower-shaped flames. Her "Clematis" technique generates cherry blossom-like fire petals that inflict burns and cuts, directed by an iron fan. She controls ambient temperature to extinguish opposing Ignition Abilities or induce heat syncope in adversaries. Scientific expertise allows precise enemy assessment and strategic heat manipulation. However, she lacks formal combat training and physical endurance, relying entirely on pre-established tactics; if overwhelmed, she becomes vulnerable to swift incapacitation. Later investigations revealed the temple fire was deliberately set by the White-Clad to identify Iris as the Eighth Pillar. Hibana uncovered evidence of human experimentation at the orphanage, confirming she and Iris were test subjects. Sister Sumire, presumed dead, resurfaced to confront Hibana, implying her survival was intended to position her as Iris's protector—mirroring Charon's role for Haumea. This revelation intensified Hibana's collaboration with Company 8 to expose the conspiracy. While showing increased kindness and loyalty to allies, she maintained cynical distrust of Haijima Industries, pragmatically leveraging their resources.
