Description
Kycilia Zabi, the sole daughter of Degwin Sodo Zabi, emerged as a pivotal figure within the Zabi family's political dynasty ruling the Principality of Zeon. Born in UC 0055, she displayed political ambition early, recognizing the need to strategically contend with her elder brother Gihren's established influence. Her early career saw her command the Munzo State Security Police before founding the intelligence-centric "Kycilia Agency." During the power consolidation after Zeon Zum Deikun's death, she retaliated against her brother Sasro Zabi for assaulting her following her orchestration of the Deikun children's escape under Ral family protection; she assassinated Sasro by planting a bomb in his car during Deikun's funeral procession. Kycilia also intervened pragmatically during riots on Side 3, deploying police forces to clear paths, demonstrating her ruthless approach to order.
Commanding the Zeon Army's Mobile Assault Force from her lunar base during the One Year War, Kycilia prioritized technological advancement and intelligence. She established elite units like Char Aznable's 300th Independent Corps (aware of his identity as Casval Rem Deikun), the Chimera Corps, and the Midnight Fenrir covert ops team. Her strategic skill was clear at the Battle of Loum, where she withdrew her fleet to preserve strength, allowing her brothers to claim glory in mopping-up operations. She later approved Lieutenant Commander Gerhart Schmitzer's proposal to form the Midnight Fenrir unit during the Antarctic Treaty cease-fire.
Kycilia's familial relationships were defined by political maneuvering and strife. While publicly loyal to her father Degwin, she privately shared Gihren's ambition to prolong the war for Earth's resources. She placed M'Quve as Zeon's delegate to the Antarctic Treaty and leader of the Earth Invasion Force, assigning her younger brother Garma under M'Quve's command as insurance against Degwin sacrificing M'Quve. Her rivalry with Gihren escalated throughout the conflict. Upon discovering Gihren used the Solar Ray to kill Degwin during peace talks, she executed Gihren with a pistol shot to the head at the Battle of A Baoa Qu, declaring patricide unforgivable.
Assuming supreme command of Zeon forces, Kycilia ordered a retreat from A Baoa Qu. While escaping aboard the flagship *Chimera*, Char Aznable destroyed the bridge with a rocket launcher, decapitating her. The *Chimera*'s subsequent destruction by Federation forces prevented her fleet from learning of Char's betrayal.
In the spin-off *GQuuuuuuX*, Kycilia survives the One Year War and persists in her power struggle against Gihren's faction. She poisons Gihren during a meeting and orders the Zeknova cannon fired at A Baoa Qu to eliminate his loyalists. Her attempt to recruit Char for her vision of a Spacenoid-exclusive world fails, and she is shot by her subordinate Nyaan using Degwin's gun. She later perishes when Char destroys her flagship *Chivvay* during a confrontation.
Additional media presents alternative portrayals, including a spinoff novel where a modern office worker is reincarnated as Kycilia during her childhood, existing outside canonical continuity.
