Barbara Kouzo lives in Los Volmos as the wife of Bill Kouzo and mother of Dan Kouzo. Initially depicted as a nurturing parent who supports her son—like leaving money for meals during her absence—her role intensifies when Kravitz, disguised as a neighbor and anti-Bakugan activist, arrives at their home. Kravitz deploys AAAnimus technology to violently activate Drago, damaging the Kouzo residence. This orchestrated incident convinces Barbara and Bill that Bakugan threaten society, leading them to demand the Awesome Ones relinquish their creatures.

Her viewpoint transforms after observing the Awesome Ones deploy their Bakugan to shield civilians during Benton Dusk's satellite crash. Witnessing this protective act reveals the Bakugan’s non-threatening nature to Barbara, motivating her to help dismantle Kravitz’s anti-Bakugan propaganda network throughout Los Volmos.

Later, when antagonist Haavik manipulates Dan, Barbara reemerges to recount her interactions with her son during his controlled state, affirming her continued maternal awareness of his conflicts.
