Description
Junichirou Tanizaki is a member of the Armed Detective Agency, serving as a support operative and assistant who handles general affairs, surveillance, and client interviews. At eighteen years old, he stands 174 centimeters tall with a slender build, drooping eyes, and a tendency to wear loose clothing. His birthday is July 24.

Tanizaki is widely regarded within the agency as the most ordinary member, lacking the dramatic or traumatic pasts that characterize many of his colleagues. His usual demeanor is gentle, calm, and approachable, making him a reliable and reasonable presence within the group. He is polite and rarely loses his composure in everyday situations. However, this placid exterior masks an intense and unwavering devotion to his younger sister, Naomi. The relationship between them is extraordinarily close and often manifests in behavior that embarrasses others, yet for Tanizaki, Naomi exists on a plane above law and morality. If she is threatened or harmed, his personality undergoes a dramatic shift; his eyes become vacant and lifeless, and he becomes ruthlessly determined, willing to kill without hesitation to ensure her safety.

His primary motivation is the protection of those he cares about, most notably his sister. While he carries out his duties for the agency with diligence, his most extreme actions are consistently triggered by threats to Naomi. In early interactions with the agency, he once played the role of a hostage-taker as part of an entrance exam for Atsushi Nakajima, revealing that his loyalty to the organization is genuine, though his most profound commitments are personal.

In the events of Dead Apple, Tanizaki is dispatched alongside Doppo Kunikida to meet with a representative from the Special Affairs Division. Their objective is to gather intelligence regarding a series of mysterious deaths known as the Serial Suicide Cases involving individuals with supernatural abilities. Upon arriving at the designated location, the pair discover the body of the government agent, with an apple stabbed into it by a knife, a haunting symbol of the chaos enveloping the city. As the film progresses, a strange fog released by Tatsuhiko Shibusawa covers Yokohama, causing the supernatural abilities of all gifted to manifest as separate entities that then attack their original hosts. Tanizaki is forced to confront his own ability, Light Snow, in combat. Because his power is not designed for direct confrontation but rather ambush and deception, he struggles significantly in this fight. Nevertheless, he endures through the conflict and ultimately joins his comrades after the crisis is resolved, appearing battered but alive.

Tanizaki relies entirely on his ability, Light Snow, which allows him to create an area where snow falls. Within this space, he can generate advanced three-dimensional illusions and visual camouflage. This power is not directly offensive but is exceptionally effective for infiltration, escape, and deception. He can hide himself and others, project convincing images of additional people or entire landscapes, and has even used his illusions to mislead enemies into dangerous situations, such as causing a truck to appear where a road does not exist. The illusions can be so refined that they fool surveillance technology. Skilled members of the Port Mafia have acknowledged that his ability is highly suited for assassination, as he was once able to corner a high-ranking target using its deceptive power.
