Description
Zeke Jaeger, also known as the Beast Titan, is the son of Grisha Jaeger and Dina Fritz. This heritage makes him the older half-brother of Eren Jaeger and a descendant of the Eldian royal bloodline through his mother. Born in Liberio, Marley, his parents—Eldian Restorationists—enrolled him in Marley's Warrior Program to infiltrate the military. His childhood was marked by emotional neglect, as his parents prioritized their political cause, leaving him with grandparents who exposed him to narratives of Eldian atrocities, fostering deep self-hatred. After struggling as a Warrior candidate, Zeke befriended his mentor, Tom Ksaver (Beast Titan holder), who encouraged his intellect and baseball skills. Fearing punishment for his parents' treason and feeling abandoned, Zeke betrayed them to Marleyan authorities, resulting in their exile to Paradis Island as Pure Titans.

In human form, Zeke possesses a tall, muscular build, shaggy blond hair, a beard, and circular glasses. His appearance was unkempt during his time on Paradis Island but became cleaner with shorter hair and a trimmed beard upon returning to Marley after the Battle of Shiganshina. His Beast Titan form stands 17 meters tall with an ape-like appearance, featuring dark fur covering most of its body, elongated limbs, dexterous fingers, pointed ears, and dark sclera with red irises. This form's disproportionately long arms and broad torso enable its combat specialization: long-range projectile attacks. Zeke leverages expert pitching ability to hurl objects like rocks with devastating accuracy.

Zeke's royal blood grants his Beast Titan unique abilities unseen in previous inheritors. He transforms Subjects of Ymir into Pure Titans by having them ingest his spinal fluid and triggering the change via vocal command, though control has limited range and faces occasional defiance from Abnormal Titans. He issues basic orders to these Titans, including nighttime activity under moonlight. Additional abilities include regenerative healing, limited hardening for defense, and fluent speech in Titan form. His tactical acumen is evident in operations like the Ragako village incident—transforming residents to test military responses—and the Battle of Shiganshina District, where he decimated Survey Corps forces.

Zeke's personality blends cold intellect with strategic detachment. He displays leadership but enforces obedience through brutality, crushing a Titan's head for disobedience or beating subordinates like Reiner Braun. Though outwardly indifferent to suffering—ruthlessly eliminating Mike Zacharias—he harbors a nihilistic view of Eldian existence, believing extinction is their only salvation. This stems from childhood trauma and Marleyan indoctrination, culminating in his "euthanasia plan": using the Founding Titan to sterilize all Subjects of Ymir, ensuring extinction within a century. Despite callousness, he expresses rare empathy for Paradis citizens, pitying their cyclical sacrifices due to erased memories. His sole genuine attachment was to Eren, seen as a fellow victim of Grisha's influence. This bond deteriorated after discovering Eren manipulated Grisha into massacring the Reiss family.

Zeke orchestrates conflicts on both sides of the Marley-Paradis war to advance his agenda. After Shiganshina, he returns to Marley and contributes to its victory in the Mid-East War by destroying enemy fleets at Fort Slava. He later conspires with Eren to access the Founding Titan, leading to their reunion in Paths—a metaphysical dimension connecting Eldians. There, he advocates sterilization to Ymir Fritz, but Eren subverts this by initiating the global Rumbling. During the Rumbling's climax at Fort Salta, Zeke sacrifices himself to aid Levi Ackerman in killing Eren, halting the Rumbling. His final moments reflect a changed perspective, recognizing life's value through the symbolic memory of playing catch with Ksaver.

In the comedic spin-off *Attack on Titan: Junior High*, an alternate Zeke appears as a former student who creates a Titan serum for immortality and revenge against bullies. This version retains the Beast Titan's ape-like design and manipulative traits but lacks the canonical backstory or thematic depth.
