Description
Kirarin, operating as human patissière Ciel Kirahoshi and Pretty Cure warrior Cure Parfait, began as a fairy from Ichigozaka. She and her younger twin brother Pikario nurtured a shared childhood dream: becoming master patissiers to connect fairies and humans through desserts. This ambition drove them to Paris for training under renowned pastry chef Jean-Pierre Zylberstein. Kirarin's exceptional dedication during this apprenticeship earned her a human form, adopting the name Ciel Kirahoshi. However, her subsequent focus on success and self-promotion inadvertently alienated Pikario, who felt overshadowed and abandoned her, eventually falling under the antagonist Noir's influence.
Ciel later returned to Ichigozaka as a celebrated "Genius Pâtissière," opening the pop-up shop "Ciel de rève." She concealed her fairy origins, though extreme hunger forcibly reverted her to her small, rabbit-like Kirarin form. Discovering that local girl Ichika Usami and her friends were the Pretty Cures protecting the positive energy "kirakiraru" within sweets, Ciel eventually joined them. Her transformation into Cure Parfait, the Pretty Cure of Dreams and Hope, ignited during a pivotal reconciliation. After Noir drained her kirakiraru, leaving her despondent, Pikario (briefly freed from Noir's control) and Cure Whip rescued her. Tasting waffles made by Pikario with his restored kirakiraru reignited her hope. Combining this energy with her own created the Pegasus Parfait Animal Sweet, enabling her transformation.
As Cure Parfait, she embodies a parfait and Pegasus theme, featuring wings, horse ears, and a flowing tail. Her attacks include "Un・Deux・Très Bien! Kiracle・Rainbow!" using her Rainbow Ribbon weapon, "Parfait Ètoile," "Animal Go round," and "Fantastic Animale," where she rides a crystal Pegasus. Unlike her teammates chanting "Kirakirakiraru" for attacks, she uniquely uses "Kirakirakirarin," a nod to her fairy name. She later achieves enhanced forms: Super Cure Parfait and A La Mode Style, gaining more elaborate attire and increased power. A critical weakness prevents her from transforming or wielding powers effectively in her diminutive Kirarin fairy form.
Her character arc extends significantly beyond her debut. Initially sweet, lively, and generous, her drive for perfection masked deep-seated insecurities and a fear of inadequacy, particularly regarding Pikario. After rescuing the world from the villain Elisio alongside the other Cures, running a joint bakery with Pikario strained their relationship again due to conflicting priorities and communication breakdowns. Ciel increasingly sacrificed her mental well-being to please customers and maintain appearances, leading to resentment towards her friends and brother. This emotional fragility made her susceptible to manipulation by cult leader Topaz, who exploited her despair with empty promises and sweets lacking genuine emotion. During this corrupted phase, she displayed uncharacteristic cruelty while remaining internally conflicted. Ultimately, with support from Pikario and her friends, she confronted her trauma, learned to prioritize mental health, accept help, and communicate feelings honestly, reaffirming her dream to connect people through desserts with renewed resilience.
Her relationships are central. The bond with Pikario is profoundly intimate yet tumultuous, marked by guilt over their past estrangement, fierce protectiveness, and eventual mutual understanding and partnership. She deeply admires her first mentor Jean-Pierre, though they experienced temporary distance. Her second mentor, Solaine, initially disowned her upon discovering her fairy nature and spread the news, contributing to Ciel's downfall; they reconciled after Solaine recognized Ciel's sincerity. Within the KiraPati team (Ichika/Cure Whip, Himari/Cure Custard, Aoi/Cure Gelato, Yukari/Cure Macaron, Akira/Cure Chocolat), she values their friendship, though her internal struggles temporarily caused rifts and misplaced hostility. She consistently shows compassion even to adversaries, notably offering kindness to the lonely Bibury before her defection and later accepting her as a friend and employee. Interactions with other characters, like the initially hostile Robin or fellow patissière Ellen from Suite Pretty Cure, evolved from mistrust or rivalry into respect and friendship through shared experiences and honesty.
In the crossover film "Pretty Cure Miracle Universe," Ciel, alongside the Kirakira à la Mode team, the Hugtto! team, and the Star Twinkle team, is transported into space by the creature Piton. She participates in the collective effort to combat the darkness spreading across the universe caused by the antagonist Yango. Her role involves fighting alongside the other Cures, being captured by space police due to misunderstandings, and contributing to the unified effort that purifies Yango and restores peace using the power of the Miracle Light and cheers from across the universe.
