Description
Reines El-Melloi Archisorte holds the position of head and bloodline successor to the El-Melloi faction within the Clock Tower's Mage's Association. She is the niece of the late Kayneth El-Melloi Archibald; her mother, Kayneth's sister possessing average magical talent, married into the Archisorte branch family. After Kayneth's demise in the Fourth Holy Grail War, the faction descended into chaos, losing most assets and accumulating massive debts. Reines ascended to leadership primarily due to her superior affinity for the family's Source Magic Crest. To settle succession disputes between the Archisorte and Archibald families, she underwent formal adoption into Kayneth's lineage but defiantly retained her birth name.

Her childhood was steeped in political maneuvering and constant danger, including regular poisoning attempts during meals. This forced her to carry personal rations and cultivate extreme wariness, honing her skills in deception and ruthless political strategy—traits further sharpened by a former butler who taught her to wield authority mercilessly. She maintains profound distrust toward others, relying chiefly on her sentient Mystic Code, Trimmau, for security.

Reines possesses brilliant blonde hair, pale bisque-doll-like skin, and fiery eyes blazing with resolve. At age 15, her appearance matched her age, though by 18 she grew taller while retaining youthful features. Her personality merges a playful, teasing manner with calculated cruelty. She openly admits deriving pleasure from observing others' suffering, especially when honorable individuals are led astray by minor errors. Despite this, she occasionally shows concern for allies, sharing sweets like chocolate with Gray and later expressing worry over Gray's halted physical aging.

Her relationship with Waver Velvet (Lord El-Melloi II) is defining. After observing his activities post-Grail War, she kidnapped him, imposing four demands: he assume leadership as "Lord El-Melloi II" until she came of age; manage the faction's crippling debts; repair the damaged El-Melloi Magic Crest; and serve as her personal tutor. She held his family's Magic Crest as collateral to ensure compliance. Though treating him as a servant and publicly calling him her adoptive brother, she later demonstrates genuine investment in his safety, worrying about threats to his position and status.

Magically, Reines wields Mystic Eyes specializing in precision analysis, which react painfully to magical energy—turning red or igniting—requiring medication to ease the discomfort. Her elemental affinity is Water, and her magecraft centers on mineral manipulation and flow/conversion systems, employing tools like an amethyst-tipped chain for dowsing and spells to erase footsteps. In combat, she relies heavily on Trimmau, a mercury-based automaton (Volumen Hydrargyrum) that shapeshifts into armor, vehicles, or human forms. Without it, her combat effectiveness is limited, as most of her magecraft is designed for laboratory work. Trimmau handles statistical analysis, pattern recognition, and technological interfacing, having adapted techniques learned from Flat Escardos.

Reines navigates Clock Tower politics with shrewdness, maintaining hostilities with families like the Sophia-Ri. She later confronts faction stability issues, including Waver's vulnerability should he lose his Lord title and Gray's unnatural lack of aging. Her character balances manipulation with unexpected loyalty, leveraging her intellect to sustain the El-Melloi legacy amidst ongoing magical conflicts.
