Description
Shinjiro Hayata, son of Shin Hayata (the original Ultraman's former host), possesses the inherited "Ultraman Factor." This manifested in childhood when he survived a multi-story fall at the Giant of Light Memorial museum unscathed. Initially insecure about these powers, Shinjiro struggled to control his strength. A pivotal incident saw him accidentally shatter a bully's leg while defending classmate Rena Sayama, causing him to flee in despair. This event led to a confrontation with Bemular, where Shin Hayata intervened using an Ultraman-inspired suit. Shinjiro then donned an experimental Ultraman Suit created by SSSP's Mitsuhiro Ide to fight Bemular, marking his debut.
His Ultra Factor genetics grant superhuman strength, durability, and agility, enhanced by the Ultraman Suit. The suit provides Spacium Blades (forearm energy blades), Spacium Slash (thrown energy rings), and a Spacium Beam (forearm-mounted energy wave). A critical ability is "Limiter Release," temporarily boosting speed and power at the cost of severe energy depletion. He subconsciously awakened flight during a battle against Black King to protect civilians.
Shinjiro is defined by a strong sense of justice and empathy, preferring to spare adversaries. This stance conflicts with SSSP agent Dan Moroboshi, who advocates lethal force. Shinjiro's pacifism is tested by aliens like Adadic, who murdered humans, triggering his rage. Similarly, the death of SSSP member Igaru pushed him toward lethal retaliation before restraint prevailed.
Balancing his life as a teenager and Ultraman proved challenging. Classmate Seiji Hokuto deduced his identity and became a rival Ultraman (ACE suit). Rena Sayama grew suspicious after Shinjiro nearly revealed himself; her public disdain for Ultraman, blaming the hero for her mother's death, complicated their relationship.
Shinjiro's development involved reconciling with his distant father. Through missions, he embraced his role, though doubts persisted about Ultraman being a "curse." Key conflicts included thwarting the Ace Killer Squad, a Star Cluster Alliance assassination unit. Their defeat culminated in Bemular unexpectedly saving Shinjiro from a bomb, hinting at deeper connections. Shinjiro evolved from an insecure youth to a hero upholding his ideals of mercy and protection, navigating conspiracies within the SSSP and alien factions on Earth.
