Description
Mei Narumiya dominates as the ace southpaw pitcher for Inashiro Industrial High School, hailed as the top left-handed pitcher of his generation in the Kantō region. His stellar performance at the 89th Summer Koshien earned him the title "Prince of the Capital," later upgraded to "The King" in his second year. Standing 174 cm tall with distinctive spiky blonde hair and blue eyes, he draws significant fan attention during games.

Born January 5th in Tokyo, Narumiya possesses a multicultural heritage. His father is half-Japanese and serves in the U.S. Navy, while his American mother isn't fully fluent in Japanese. Despite his parents' nationality, Narumiya strongly identifies with Japanese culture and communicates with his mother using a blend of both languages. He is the youngest child with two older sisters, including Narumiya Maya, a former softball outfielder he deeply admires.

Narumiya's personality blends supreme confidence and occasional arrogance. He believes his pitching talent warrants a degree of selfishness, openly criticizing teammates like former captain Harada or catcher Itsuki for perceived underperformance. He intensely dislikes losing, reacting poorly when his pitches are hit, he's substituted, or other pitchers receive praise. Off the field, he reveals a bubbly, childish side, enjoying sweets, spicy food, and karaoke—where he often pressures teammates into singing boyband songs. He also offers fashion advice. Beneath his bravado, he accepts responsibility for mistakes and shows loyalty, such as sleeping over at teammates Carlos' or Shirakawa's dorms after horror movies.

His baseball ambition ignited in junior high when he recruited players like Shirakawa, Carlos, Yamaoka, and Yabe to build an "ultimate team" targeting Koshien, though Miyuki Kazuya declined his invitation. At Inashiro, he started as a reliever, closing critical first-year games like the semifinal against Seido. His talent shone at the 88th Summer Koshien, but a wild pitch against Yatsuhiro Technical High caused Inashiro's elimination. Haunted by this failure, he blamed himself, withdrew from the team, skipped practice, and damaged his form. He later dedicated himself to rigorous conditioning during the fall tournament, rebuilding his pitching technique with heightened care for each throw—a development Harada recognized as significant.

His pitching arsenal features a fastball clocked at 156 kph, a changeup ranked among the "scariest pitches" in NPB, a slider, and a forkball. He combines exceptional control with strategic adaptability, though occasional impulsiveness surfaces—like throwing an unauthorized changeup during a scrimmage against Shuuhoku to impress Seido observers, leading to immediate substitution by Coach Kunitomo. He meticulously studies opponents, reserving special focus for skilled batters like Seido’s Yuuki Tetsuya (the first to hit his pitch) and Miyuki Kazuya, whom he persistently views as an ideal catching partner. This dynamic resurged in a practice match where Inashiro devised a ruse to mislead Miyuki about Narumiya’s changeup habits. When Miyuki instead alerted Narumiya to the deception, Narumiya was so surprised by Miyuki’s candor that he revealed the truth, highlighting their complex mutual respect.

After high school, Narumiya attended Waseda University for two years, studying geography as a fallback career, before joining the Yomiuri Giants as a primary pitcher. His eight-season professional contract includes notable stats like a 2.198 ERA and a .298 batting average. His sustained success, particularly his synergy with catchers like Miyuki and Chris Yuu, solidifies his reputation as an elite pitcher.
