Description
Masayoshi Shido is a Japanese politician who appears as a charismatic and confident public figure, but he is in reality the orchestrator of a vast conspiracy to seize control of the country. He is first encountered indirectly when the protagonist, Ren Amamiya, is arrested and put on probation after intervening in an assault that Shido himself was committing. Shido uses his influence to ensure his own name is kept out of the records, setting the protagonist on the path that leads to the formation of the Phantom Thieves. Shido later becomes a popular candidate for prime minister, delivering speeches that promise to eradicate corruption while secretly manipulating events from behind the scenes.
His personality is defined by extreme narcissism and a sense of messianic entitlement. He believes he is destined to rule and that any action he takes is justified by that goal.
