Tokitoki is the divine God-Bird of Time, an ancient species with the innate power to create and govern time throughout the multiverse. Chronologically aged at least 75 million years, it hatched from an egg entrusted to Chronoa, the Supreme Kai of Time. Chronoa has cared for Tokitoki ever since, following a period where Demigra, initially assigned to assist her, conducted unauthorized experiments on the young bird. These experiments caused dangerous time distortions until Chronoa intervened and banished Demigra to the Demon Realm. Physically resembling an owl, Tokitoki possesses white plumage. Red feathers encircle its eyes, while its wing and tail feathers are tipped yellow. A long, thick beard extends beyond its body length. Tokitoki exhibits a generally gentle and friendly disposition towards Chronoa, frequently perching on her head or following her closely. However, it reacts sharply to perceived threats or annoyances, screeching at individuals who upset it or attacking with its talons when jealous, such as when Chronoa complimented Bardock. Tokitoki communicates using vocalizations like "Toh," "Ki," or "Ke," which Chronoa understands, revealing its high intelligence. For example, it persuasively argued against Chronoa cooking a large feast by indicating the impracticality, later suggesting using Dragon Balls to wish for food instead. Tokitoki's abilities include flight, teleportation, and the fundamental generation of time itself. Young Tokitoki under duress can produce time distortions, as occurred during Demigra's experiments. Its "Wings of Nullification" generate golden winds capable of dispelling Energy of Destruction, demonstrated when repelling attacks from Gods of Destruction who sought its eradication due to a multiverse-destruction prophecy. Male Tokitoki, like Chronoa's companion, lay irreplicable "Time Eggs" containing the immense energy needed to create time for new universes. Artificial copies become destructive "Distorted Time Eggs," causing time rifts. Tokitoki fiercely protects its eggs, reacting aggressively to theft or mishandling by figures like Towa or Goku. In its "God Bird" form, Tokitoki grows larger and more regal, unlocking its full power as time's ruler. This form enabled it to restore all time absorbed by the demon lord Mechikabura and temporarily seal the powers of the Gods of Destruction. Tokitoki's significance makes it a recurring target for antagonists: Mechikabura attempted to accelerate his own Tokitoki's growth with dark magic, creating the demonic counterfeit Dogidogi, while Demigra and later Towa sought to steal Tokitoki or its eggs to manipulate time. Tokitoki shares bonds beyond Chronoa, including mutual respect with Whis—who once protected its egg from Beerus—and tolerance of Elder Kai despite his arguments with Chronoa. It shows no fear of Beerus, likely aware of its importance to cosmic stability. After the destruction of Toki Toki City (named in its honor), it resides with Chronoa in the Time Nest at the edge of Universe 7, where its existence remains pivotal to multiversal timelines.
