Movie
Description
Mulu Elu Galu Gu is a Bilusaludo, an alien species distinguished by its advanced technological capabilities, and holds the rank of lieutenant colonel aboard the interstellar emigrant ship Aratrum. He serves as the ship's Chief Technology Officer and was a central figure in the Bilusaludo's secret Project Mechagodzilla, which attempted to defeat Godzilla on Earth using autonomous nanometal technology. This project was ultimately abandoned before it could be activated, forcing the Bilusaludo to flee Earth alongside humanity and the Exif.
Galu Gu is pragmatic, calculating, and deeply committed to the Bilusaludo belief that technology is the only reliable path to survival and victory. He is willing to pursue extreme measures to achieve his goals, including the use of nanometal weapons and, later, advocating for the extermination of the indigenous Houtua tribe when he is captured by them on Earth. His personality is marked by a cold rationality and a growing antagonism toward those who oppose his technological solutions, particularly Haruo Sakaki, whose emotional vendetta against Godzilla and reliance on alien alliances Galu Gu views as reckless.
In the story, Galu Gu initially appears as a supporting protagonist in Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, where he designs the weaponry used in the operation to kill Godzilla Filius in the Tanzawa Pass. He oversees the deployment of multipodal batteries and explosives that trap the creature, allowing Haruo to destroy it with electromagnetic pulse probes. However, after the emergence of the far larger Godzilla Earth and the failure of the human-alien coalition, Galu Gu's role shifts. In Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle, he becomes the secondary antagonist, secretly continuing Project Mechagodzilla by reactivating the nanometal city that the Aratrum had left behind. His ambition to control Godzilla through technology brings him into direct conflict with Haruo and the other survivors, culminating in his betrayal and ultimate defeat.
Key relationships include his rivalry with Haruo Sakaki, whose distrust of the Bilusaludo and reliance on the Exif's mystical guidance Galu Gu scorns. He also has a fraught dynamic with Metphies, the Exif priest, whose religious influence he sees as a threat to rational, technological progress. Among his own kind, Galu Gu is a respected leader, though his single-minded pursuit of the nanometal plan isolates him even from his Bilusaludo subordinates.
Over the course of the trilogy, Galu Gu develops from a competent but cautious ally into a fanatical antagonist willing to sacrifice human lives and the planet itself to prove the superiority of Bilusaludo technology. His notable abilities include expertise in engineering and weapon design, particularly with nanometal, as well as strategic planning and military leadership. He is also resourceful and adaptable, as shown by his survival after Godzilla Earth's emergence and his ability to manipulate the Aratrum's remaining resources for his own ends.
