Description
Osamu Saginuma's origins lie at Ohisama En orphanage, where his involvement in Project Genesis and enhancement by Aliea Rock energy shaped his future. This led to his initial identity as Desarm, the captain and goalkeeper of Aliea Academy's elite team Epsilon. As Desarm, he employed ruthless tactics, exiling the defeated Gemini Storm and securing overwhelming victories through aggressive plays that injured opponents. His signature techniques from this period were Worm Hole and Drill Smasher. Following Epsilon's defeat by Raimon and Gouenji Shuuya's return, Gazel exiled his team, ending his Aliea affiliation.
Frustrated at not being selected for Inazuma Japan after the Aliea arc, Saginuma sought training under Coach Hitomiko Kira. He became captain of Neo Japan, adopting a determined yet sportsmanlike attitude and evolving techniques like Illusion Ball Kai and Dash Storm V2. Although Neo Japan lost the qualification match against Inazuma Japan, Saginuma accepted the outcome. He later demonstrated commitment to soccer's positive values by assisting in Midorikawa's training.
In *Inazuma Eleven GO*, Saginuma appeared as an assistant coach for Seidouzan, encouraging players during matches and maintaining his enthusiastic approach to soccer, highlighting his transition from player to mentor.
The *Ares no Tenbin* alternate timeline depicted him as Eisei Gakuen's goalkeeper. There, he employed psychological tactics like agitating opponents and utilized his signature Worm Hole technique. His strategic style was evident when his team faced Inakuni Raimon in the Football Frontier nationals.
For *Orion no Kokuin*, Saginuma joined Inazuma Japan as a reserve player capable of filling multiple positions: goalkeeper, defender, and midfielder. He was part of the initial roster for the Football Frontier International. During the group stage match against Perfect Spark (episode 35), he debuted as a midfielder for the team, his flexibility underscoring adaptability and experience.
Throughout all appearances, Saginuma consistently displayed intense determination, occasional strategic greediness, and a deep passion for soccer. He struggled with inspiring others, notably when a lengthy formal letter he sent demoralized Inazuma Japan recipients. Despite this, his willingness to evolve—from antagonist to dedicated player and mentor—remained a core aspect of his character.
