Description
Masakatsu Hiyori is a second-year student and a defender for the Inakuni Raimon soccer team in the alternate timeline of Inazuma Eleven: Ares no Tenbin. He originates from Inakunijima, a remote island, and is a member of the group that transfers to Raimon Junior High in Tokyo to compete in the Football Frontier tournament after their island club faces dissolution due to a lack of sponsorship.
Hiyori has a slightly short stature with tanned skin, blue eyes, and white hair that flows out to either side of his head. His casual attire typically consists of a white jumper with yellow stripes, grey dungarees, grey boots, and a grey hat. On the field, he plays as a defender, contributing to the team's backline.
Initially, Hiyori is upbeat and excited about the opportunity to play against strong teams on the mainland, viewing the move as a chance to prove themselves. However, he soon becomes aware of the serious circumstances surrounding the club's potential disbandment, which grounds his enthusiasm with a sense of urgency. He is a reliable teammate who works closely with other defenders and participates in coordinated special techniques.
In the story, Hiyori is part of the core Inakuni Raimon lineup that competes through the Football Frontier preliminaries and the main tournament. He is specifically identified as one of two players considered crucial to the success of an emergency operation during a match against Seisho Gakuen. He also takes part in a three-person joint special move called Empire War, partnering with Hiro Okuiri and Hanta Hattori; this technique was originally developed for Tetsunosuke Goujin and Tatsumi Michinari, but Hiyori fills in for Goujin on that occasion.
Hiyori does not advance to the national team; when Inazuma Japan is announced, he is present alongside his teammates but is not selected as a member. He later appears at the surprise farewell party for the chosen players before they depart for the FFI tournament in Russia. His journey reflects the growth of the Inakuni Raimon team as they face increasingly powerful opponents, and he remains a steady presence in the defensive unit throughout the series.
