Description
Ate de la Ruine, also known as Ruin Ate, is a high-ranking Dryad warrior serving Eris, Goddess of Discord. She commands the Dryad forces and spearheads the effort to resurrect her deity.
Her earliest known scheme involved merging Eris's soul with a young girl named Sho. Disguised as an elderly woman, Ate lured Sho with a golden apple masking Eris's essence – appearing as a blood-stained fruit entwined with a serpent. Sho's sister, Kyoko, disrupted the plan. Ate retaliated by commanding nearby trees to subdue both sisters, but they were saved by the Gold Saint Scorpio Milo, forcing Ate's retreat.
During the war against Athena, Ate directed the hunt for Eris's corporeal vessel. She confronted and swiftly overpowered Kyoko and the Delphinus Saintia Mii. Later, attempting to capture Sho, Athena intervened. Ate overwhelmed the inexperienced goddess, only to be driven back by the spirit of Sagittarius Aiolos emanating from his Cloth. Desperate, Ate ensnared Sho with branches and deployed the Golden Apple, inducing a trance that freed Eris's soul as a winged serpent. As the soul moved to possess Sho, Kyoko intercepted it, becoming Eris's host.
Ate transported Eris to the Garden of Eden, overseeing her mother's incubation within the Uterus tree. When Rigel of Orion warned her of a Gold Saint's presence in Eris's territory, Ate interpreted this as doubt and attacked him. She later battled Scorpio Milo, entangling him with vines using her signature technique, Million Hatred. During the fight, she revealed her ability to regenerate a youthful body after years of accumulating energy. Milo detected her lingering decay aura and accused her of exploiting Eris for personal ambition, not loyalty. After Milo broke free and wounded her with his Scarlet Needle: Antares, Ate fled, begging Eris for aid. Rigel intervened again, killing Ate with a massive flame blast to prevent her further draining Eris's power, dismissing her as unfit to battle Gold Saints.
Following Eris's full resurrection and the establishment of a new temple, Ate reappeared alive, suggesting rebirth tied to her goddess's power. She was later seen conversing with Dryads like Dysnomia and Rigel regarding Eris's plans and monitoring the arrival of a mysterious new Dryad.
Ate possesses standard Dryad abilities: body transformation into vegetation, frequently using her hair as vines or roots for combat. Her techniques include energy discharges, teleportation, portal creation, illusions like the "Eden of Darkness" barrier, and generating remote clones. Her name and role draw from Greek mythology, where Atë personifies ruin, folly, and disaster.
