Description
Kyoko du Petit Cheval, also known as Equuleus Kyōko, serves as one of the Saintias, female Saints devoted to the goddess Athena. She is the older sister of Shōko du Petit Cheval and daughter of Saintia Olivia, sharing their physical resemblance, marked by her purple hair and brown eyes.
A critical childhood incident defined her path: Kyoko intervened to shield Shōko from an old woman offering a blood-stained apple encircled by a snake within the Eden of darkness. This act drew supernatural forces targeting both sisters until Scorpio Milo rescued them, revealing they were born under stars bearing a cruel destiny. Selected by the Graad Foundation, Kyoko trained abroad for five years at the Sacred Academy. There, she met Rigel of Orion and trained alongside fellow Saintias-in-training Mii of Dolphin, Katya of Northern Crown, and Xiaoling of Ursa Minor, eventually earning her Bronze Cloth to become the Equuleus Bronze Saint.
In combat, Kyoko employs her primary technique, the Equuleus Ryūsei Ken, unleashing a barrage of star-charged punches akin to the Pegasus Ryūsei Ken. She utilized this against servants of Eris. Kyoko reemerged specifically to protect Shōko from Dryad Ate. Though repeatedly overpowered by Ate, Kyoko kept rising to defend her sister. During a confrontation at the Kido mansion, Ate defeated Kyoko, but she succeeded in shielding Shōko. When Shōko became the target to become Eris's vessel, Kyoko sacrificed herself, intercepting the possession to become the goddess's host instead. This sacrifice caused her disappearance, leaving only her Cloth and her grieving sister behind.
As Eris's vessel, Kyoko lost control of her body, yet her consciousness endured. This allowed her to momentarily regain control whenever Eris encountered Shōko, her Cosmos resonating with her former Cloth and her sister. Near Eris's temple, this resonance enabled Kyoko to communicate with Shōko, urging her to protect Athena. Kyoko's soul actively resisted Eris's dominion, briefly restraining the goddess to prevent her from possessing Shōko before vanishing once more.
Kyoko du Petit Cheval appears in official media including the Saintia Shō manga and its 10-episode ONA adaptation. She is also featured as an action figure, complete with parts representing both her standard Equuleus Cloth and its powered-up version repaired by Mu.
