TV-Series
Description
Ye Ziying is a streetwise youth navigating 1930s Shanghai's turbulent French Concession, estimated to be 12 to 14 years old during the original *Souten no Ken* events. He operates alongside his father, Ye, a former Qing Bang gang member left heavily bandaged from Hong Hua Hui torture. This places Ye Ziying directly within the conflict between the Qing Bang remnants and their oppressors. He exhibits sharp resourcefulness and survival instincts, resorting to petty theft when necessary.
Ye Ziying first encounters Kenshiro Kasumi (Yan Wang) after witnessing the Hong Hua Hui execute a minor drug dealer and threaten the dealer's young accomplice. When Kenshiro intervenes, Ye Ziying steals his bag and delivers it to his injured father, inadvertently reuniting Kenshiro with Ye, an old Qing Bang acquaintance.
Ye Ziying and his father then ally with Kenshiro against the Hong Hua Hui. They accompany him into the "Great New World" building, where the gang stages the brutal "Game of Death" fights to humiliate and eliminate Qing Bang members. During this arc, Ye Ziying witnesses Kenshiro, disguised as Ye, defeat the Hong Hua Hui champion Goran.
Their involvement continues as they support Kenshiro’s efforts to dismantle the Hong Hua Hui, including aiding the discovery that Kenshiro’s friend Pan Guang Lin remains alive but imprisoned and tortured by the gang. In the sequel *Souten no Ken: Regenesis*, Ye Ziying appears as a character, maintaining his street-smart alliance within the Shanghai underworld and his relationship with his father.
