Driven by contempt for humans—deemed dangers to the Underworld, especially Hanae Ashiya—he enacts merciless measures, such as prolonging his yōkai form to inflict suffocating agony on her. Yet, he pragmatically mentors Haruitsuki Abeno in his youth, compelled by the boy’s prodigious grasp of Underworld lore.

His abilities solidify his dominance: shapeshifting between forms, exuding a choking aura, and paralyzing or suffocating victims with a touch. Preferring solitude, he routinely rebuffs social overtures, earning a reputation as a recluse.
