TV-Series
Description
Keshi is a yōkai whose body displays numerous cracks, leaving her vulnerable to fragmentation. She wears a long, messy black wig and a white dress, having previously sported short hair and a traditional yukata before acquiring human-like garments. Her physical fragility causes body parts—such as her head or eyes—to detach during movement or emotional outbursts, requiring water-based reassembly to reintegrate.
Exhausted from a prolonged, fruitless search for the Mononokean—rumored to grant yōkai wishes—she adopted human attire to become visible. She deliberately caused disturbances in Tenbo Pass, aiming to lure the Mononokean’s attention. Her core wish was to experience humanity for one day by dancing at a Bon Festival.
Upon meeting the Mononokean’s employees, she initially mistakes the nervous Hanae for its owner. After clarification, she requests transformation into a human, learns it is impossible, and settles for a human disguise to fulfill her dream without frightening people. Despite meticulous efforts to hide her yōkai traits, the disguise proves unconvincing, and her body continues fragmenting during preparations.
At the Bon Festival, she hesitates to join the dance, fearing her instability might scare attendees. Encouragement from the Neighborhood Association President overcomes her reluctance, allowing full participation. Afterward, she thanks the group for enabling her dream. Content with her wish fulfilled, she is exorcised to the Underworld.
