Description
Agnese Sanctis is a Roman Catholic nun from Milan, Italy, who was orphaned young and lived as a street urchin before the Church took her in. There she formed close bonds with Lucia and Angelene and rose to lead the paramilitary Agnese Forces. Her early devotion was fanatical and ruthless, viewing non‑Roman Catholics as animals or pigs and justifying violence through church dogma, including deceiving allies and torturing targets. Physically, she has reddish hair with thin, dreadlock‑like braids, wears modified Roman Catholic robes with shortened hemlines exposing her thighs, 30‑centimeter platform shoes (chopine), and a cross necklace. Her primary weapon is the Lotus Wand, a staff embodying the fifth element (Aether) that enables sympathetic magic, and she also employs brainwashing and sensory spells. Initially an antagonist tasked with assassinating Orsola Aquinas, she captured Orsola but was defeated by Kamijou Touma and the Amakusa Church. The Roman Catholic Church then scapegoated her unit, imprisoning them in the Adriatic Sea fleet as sacrifices for the Rosary of the Appointed Time spell. Rescued by Touma and Orsola, Agnese defected to the Anglican Church’s Necessarius, severing ties with the Vatican but maintaining Roman Catholic practices as its representative in England. After her redemption, she exhibits a more carefree, childish personality, engaging in mundane activities like laundry mishaps and card games. Although traces of sadism remain, her loyalty shifts to her comrades, and she advocates helping others regardless of church conflicts. Her background reveals trauma‑driven devotion masking deep‑seated doubt. She resides in Necessarius’s women’s dormitory and symbolizes reformed interfaith cooperation.
