Clutch belongs to an alien trio sent to Earth to harvest Earth Energy, evolving from antagonist to ambiguous operative. As the group's analytical member, he employs strategic thinking and artistic flair in his missions. His partnership with comrades Chamber and Oiler relies on shared goals and mutual dependence, while their superior Brake instills fear through harsh threats of punishment for failure.

He executes energy collection by summoning destructive Spingers, including Ninjara and the second-level Dokkanzu deployed underground, the latter defeated by Raiga and Kuga Kudou.

Clutch later forms a tactical alliance with renegade human Kakeru Kumaneko and his Gao Granner Saber, offering Dark Energy in exchange for aid against the Earth Granners. This partnership ends when Saber gains self-regenerating Earth Energy and turns against the aliens. Clutch perceives this as a betrayal, terminating their collaboration.

Following Brake's orders, Clutch investigates a Super Spinium energy reaction in Yosemite Forest, linked to ancient alien artifacts. He encounters a robotic guardian left by a super-ancient civilization. Initially hostile, the guardian accepts Clutch as its master after his jewel reacts and he generates Dark Energy through a "reversal mambo" dance. This energy transforms the forest into the Spinewger Jyamoku.

During this mission, Clutch re-encounters Kakeru. Attempting to avoid conflict, he proposes renewing their alliance, but Kakeru refuses, intending to rejoin the Earth Granners. Angered by this rejection, Clutch attacks with Jyamoku. Though initially overwhelming Kakeru and Saber, intervention by allies Joe Pachero and Gao Granner Buffalo leads to Jyamoku's destruction by Kakeru.
