Description
Dice Arisugawa, MC name "Dead or Alive," is a gambler and member of Shibuya's rap group Fling Posse. Born to prominent politicians Otome Tohoten and Mikado Asuka, his childhood fractured when his father was arrested and his mother left him with the Arisugawa relatives. Overwhelmed by this upbringing, Dice abandoned his family during high school, descending into homelessness and gambling addiction. He chased thrills by wagering vast sums and even his life, leading to chronic debt and instability.
His path shifted when Rio Mason Busujima found him starving and offered food. This act forged mutual respect; Dice regularly visited Rio for meals, seeing him as profoundly compassionate. Yet Dice's gambling continued, exemplified by borrowing money from Rio specifically for slot machines.
Dice joined Fling Posse after winning a Hypnosis Mic in a high-stakes game. Initially finding rap battles dull, Ramuda Amemura changed his mind by demonstrating their excitement, convincing him to join. Within the group, Dice developed a close but vitriolic friendship with Gentaro Yumeno, engaging in constant playful bickering and frequently falling for Gentaro's fabricated tales. Despite this, Dice willingly listens to Gentaro's novel ideas and meets him outside group activities. Ramuda maintains Dice's loyalty through bribes like food or dinners, and Dice matches Ramuda's energetic nature. He consistently offers reassurance during Ramuda's emotional lows and vowed to protect him from the government entity Chuohku.
Dice's relationship with his mother, Otome, remains strained and emotionally charged. He visibly tenses at her name, avoiding eye contact and changing the subject. Their interactions, like in the "Catch Us If You Can" drama track, are blunt and detached. In a pivotal confrontation, Dice bargained with Otome to extend Ramuda's life and reinstate Fling Posse in the Division Rap Battle, threatening to leak sensitive manuscripts. Though Otome only agreed to clear legal charges against Dice and Gentaro, he defiantly bet on defying the impossible to save Ramuda. Their farewell implied permanent separation, though Otome retains his contact information and listens to his voicemails without responding.
Elsewhere, Dice defended Gentaro against insults from Hifumi Izanami and criticized Doppo Kannonzaka's excessive apologizing, sparking conflicts that escalated into rap battles. He also briefly accepted a job from gang founder Zannen Tobari, unaware it would ignite division-wide conflict.
Dice is an impulsive thrill-seeker living moment-to-moment. He carries lucky dice, bases decisions on rolls, and takes superstitions seriously. Constant gambling leaves him penniless and reliant on others for basic needs like food, though he avoids wild plants and dislikes grass. Despite financial recklessness, he shows fierce loyalty. His Hypnosis Mic ability, "Max Bet," manifests as a slot machine speaker with outcomes determined by randomized results.
His development traces a journey from self-destructive loner to protective teammate, crystallized in his confrontation with Otome. There, he leveraged his familial connection not for personal gain, but to secure his team's future and challenge Chuohku's authority. His declaration to "bet on the impossible" for Ramuda underscores his commitment to Fling Posse.
