Kuroh Yatogami is an 18-year-old male with black hair often tied in a ponytail and blue eyes, standing 178 cm tall. Born on January 5 with blood type A, he suffered profound tragedy early: his family died in a truck accident when he was five. Relatives adopted him only to perish in a fire a year later. Subsequent guardians exploited his inheritance before abandoning him, leaving the malnourished boy alone until Ichigen Miwa, the Seventh King, rescued him from a snowy mountainside. While living with Ichigen, Kuroh’s Clansman abilities emerged as he saved a village boy from a cliff fall. Ichigen became his adoptive father, mentor, and role model, instilling values and training him in swordsmanship, martial arts, and housekeeping. After Ichigen’s death from illness, Kuroh inherited a mission via recorded will: find and evaluate Ichigen’s successor, the Colorless King, eliminating him if deemed evil.
Initially serious and no-nonsense, Kuroh strictly adhered to Ichigen’s teachings, frequently consulting the recorded messages. He judged individuals solely by their actions, driving his pursuit of the suspected corrupt Colorless King, Yashiro Isana. Yet underlying compassion and gullibility surfaced, like believing Yashiro’s fabricated story about an ill sister, allowing escape. Interactions with Yashiro and Neko—a feline Strain with sensory interference powers—gradually softened his rigid perspective. Key shifts included using Ichigen’s words to comfort a doubting Yashiro and hesitating to uncover Yashiro’s past despite initial lethal intent. A turning point came when Yashiro suggested consulting the recordings during a crisis. Kuroh began to reach for it but stopped, asserting they knew what to do without it, symbolizing his transition from dependence on Ichigen’s legacy to self-reliance and trust in his companions. Ultimately, he pledged loyalty to Yashiro as the Silver King, seeking symbolic permission from Ichigen’s smiling apparition, accepting a new purpose. His arc concluded by embracing an equal partnership with Yashiro and Neko, moving beyond past losses.
In the non-canonical spin-off "The Idol K," Kuroh is reimagined as an idol in a comedic setting.
