Description
Koharu's Eevee originated in a laboratory dedicated to studying Eevee and its evolutions. Researchers observed it repeatedly attempting to evolve by mimicking the behaviors and moves of Eeveelutions like Sylveon, Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon, but all attempts failed. The reason remains officially undetermined, though researchers suggested unusually unstable DNA or Eevee not having found its true path, reflecting uncertainty about its future.
Developing a fascination with Professor Cerise's Yamper, Eevee escaped the lab. Following Yamper led it to Vermilion City and Chloe Cerise. When researchers tried to recapture Eevee, Yamper and Chloe helped it escape, solidifying their bond. Witnessing Yamper protect other Pokémon from Team Rocket further inspired Eevee to assist in the rescue. This shared experience culminated in Eevee choosing to stay with Chloe permanently, officially becoming her first partner Pokémon when she captured it using a Poké Ball provided by Goh.
Eevee exhibits a notably curious and empathetic personality. It frequently mimics the behaviors, movements, and battle techniques of other Pokémon it encounters, especially evolved Eeveelutions, demonstrating strong observational and adaptive skills. This trait extended to copying contest techniques after meeting Dawn's Piplup in Sinnoh. Eevee possesses a strong willingness to help others, protecting Piplup from a Rhydon and shielding Chloe from an Icy Wind attack during a Galar fossil excavation. Its bond with Chloe is exceptionally close and mutually supportive, with Eevee often providing encouragement, such as nudging Chloe to join trips she might avoid due to school.
Relationships form a core aspect of Eevee's character. Its foundational connection with Chloe is marked by mutual understanding and shared growth as both navigate uncertainties about the future. Eevee shares a playful and protective friendship with Yamper, instrumental in their initial meeting. It also formed a friendly bond with Dawn's Piplup in Sinnoh, engaging in play and learning contest moves together.
Eevee actively participated in numerous research expeditions with Chloe, Ash, and Goh. Key adventures include traveling to Galar to excavate fossils, where Eevee helped dig and later saved Chloe from an enraged Arctozolt. Another journey involved assisting an injured Galarian Rapidash in Glimwood Tangle; Eevee bravely fought off Impidimp to retrieve Chloe's stolen backpack containing a vital healing flower. Eevee faced a universe-threatening crisis when Alternate World Team Rocket attempted to devolve Pokémon and distort spacetime. Dialga's temporal powers transformed Eevee and other Pokémon into eggs during this event. After the villains' defeat and Arceus's intervention, Dialga and Palkia restored all affected Pokémon, including Eevee.
In battle and performance, Eevee utilizes moves like Tackle and its signature move, Copycat, which replicates the last move used by an opponent. This move was practiced during a Sinnoh contest routine with Piplup. While not focused on extensive battling, Eevee demonstrates courage and resourcefulness when protecting others.
Physically, Eevee is identifiable as female by the unique heart-shaped pattern on its tail tip, marking the first visible gender difference for an Eevee in the anime. It typically travels outside its Poké Ball. Speculation exists regarding parallels to the non-evolving Partner Eevee from the *Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee!* games, and its possession of the Gigantamax Factor, which inherently prevents evolution, further supports its permanent status as an Eevee.
