Description
Jet Mars emerged on February 3, 2015, crafted by Dr. Yamanoue and Dr. Kawashimo on an artificial island. Dr. Yamanoue built his body for military combat, while Dr. Kawashimo designed his electronic brain to mirror a human child's. This clash over his purpose—combat versus compassionate growth—created persistent tension. Dr. Yamanoue enforced rigorous combat training and warfare-focused academics, which Jet Mars often resisted, preferring exploration and play.
Initially, he revealed significant naivety and ignorance about the world, coupled with a personality described as spoiled and rambunctious, akin to Uran from *Astro Boy*. His trusting nature repeatedly led him into peril, like being captured by a robot trafficking ring that planned to scrap him for parts before his rescue. Early encounters also demonstrated his immense physical strength, often used destructively due to misunderstanding, such as breaking through walls instead of opening doors.
Key events drove his emotional growth. Confronting death after a robot named Mad Mask sacrificed itself taught him profound sadness. He formed a deep bond with a robotic puppy named Otouto, whom he called his little brother. This relationship ended tragically when Otouto, revealed to contain a bomb, sacrificed itself to protect him. Though Dr. Yamanoue attempted to erase this memory, residual feelings of loss lingered. He later encountered Hamegg's abusive robot circus, witnessing robot mistreatment firsthand and the destruction of a clown robot that intervened for him, teaching him about human cruelty and exploitation.
Through these experiences, he evolved from a destructive, impulsive child into a more thoughtful individual, while retaining his core energetic and trusting nature. He developed a strong sense of justice, frequently declaring villains "should sink to the bottom of the sea," and discovered fulfillment in helping others, stating, "Is this how it feels to help people? It feels good!"
His abilities include flight activated by pressing a belt button, transforming his scarf into red V-shaped wings or a cape, superhuman strength, enhanced hearing, and eyes functioning as searchlights. His combat style features self-developed techniques like the Vortex Punch, involving rapid spinning and drilling into opponents. He speaks Japanese, English, and German. A later upgrade installed a circuit enabling him to generate a shield capable of withstanding a 60-megaton nuclear blast.
