Description
Ferry is an Erune spirit dwelling on a mist-veiled island, her existence bound between life and death after perishing at age thirteen during a pandemic that also claimed her parents. This tragedy severed her final chance to reunite with her ailing sister, who had journeyed distant for treatment. In desperation, Ferry prayed for salvation; the goddess of death, Celeste, answered by granting "unlife" to Ferry and her entire village. This cursed existence caused Ferry to fade from her corporeal form and lose all memory of her name, past, and sibling.
As a ghost, Ferry lingered near her abandoned family home, avoiding the spectral villagers she feared would reject her. Isolated, she forged bonds with ghostly animals—Beppo, Fugee, Nicola, and Geegee—who became her unwavering companions. A fifth companion, Momo, joined later. Her solitary existence involved resolving lingering spiritual matters, such as aiding a ghostly woman finish a blanket for her deceased husband. This act revealed the couple's fate and allowed Ferry to grant them peace by creating a shared grave wrapped in the completed blanket.
Ferry joined Gran's skyfaring crew after they lifted the curse binding her village. Journeying with them became her path to reclaim lost memories and relentlessly pursue her primary motivation: finding her sister. This quest drives her actions across multiple stories, ultimately revealing she is the grand-aunt of Drang, connecting her to wider familial lore.
In combat and daily life, Ferry wields a whip to command her spectral pets, deploying them for offense and support. Her abilities include summoning the animals for coordinated attacks, unleashing magic-infused whip strikes, and generating protective spirit orbs. She can manifest Geegee specifically for strategic setplay, controlling battlefield positioning and pressure. Despite her ghostly nature, she maintains a tangible form enabling physical interaction—allowing her to walk freely, hike, exercise, and participate directly in the crew's endeavors—though the mechanics remain undefined.
Her personality reflects her tragic past and prolonged isolation. Initially uncomfortable with strangers and scary stories, she holds deep reverence for family bonds. Decades of seclusion often lead her to misunderstand metaphors or euphemisms. Over time, she demonstrates profound compassion by helping others find closure, mirroring her own unresolved quest.
