Description
Yume Hinata serves as the central human character. She begins as a 12-year-old first-year junior high student who discovers a mysterious doll fallen from the sky, later revealed as the sentient plush kitten Mew. This encounter designates her a Dream Partner, granting the ability to perform "Dream Synchro" with Mew to enter others' dreams and collect Dreamy Stones capable of fulfilling wishes when gathered sufficiently.

Aged 12 initially, she turns 13 in Episode 19 of the first season and 14 in Episode 19 of the second season, *Mewkledreamy Mix!*. Her physical appearance features long light blonde hair styled with front-framing curls and a distinctive lilac plaid headband with a heart-shaped clip. Her standard attire is a school uniform: a white shirt with dark pink cuffs, dark pink pleated skirt, red ribbon, white socks, and coffee-brown Mary Jane shoes. A summer variant includes a short-sleeved shirt, light blue vest, and a creamy-white skirt with a red stripe. Her sleepwear consists of a pink frilly dress over pink knee-length pants. In her transformed "Dream form," she wears a baby pink pleated dress with white accents, puffy sleeves, lavender bows, pink stockings, pink shoes, a choker with a silver star, and a multicolored headband with a yellow star.

Her personality exhibits high energy, cheerfulness, and occasional clumsiness, often resulting in scatterbrained or troublesome behavior. She dislikes cherry tomatoes and struggles academically, particularly receiving failing grades in mathematics. She avidly follows the manga "Cheer Ciao" and actively participates in her school's cheerleading club. Her interests include fashion, with a noted preference for the color pink reflected in her belongings.

Family dynamics show her father's influence on her knowledge of geology as an avid stone collector. Her mother is depicted as kind and supportive. She also has a younger cousin named Nana. Social relationships are extensive: Mew serves as her primary partner in dream missions. School friends include fellow Dream Partners Maira Tsukishima and Kotoko Imai, whom she admires and addresses respectfully as "senpai." Tokiwa Anzai, a transfer student, later joins their group. Asahi Minamikawa, her neighbor and childhood friend, shares a significant bond; early episodes depict her unawareness of his romantic feelings, though she gradually develops reciprocal emotions, creating unresolved tension by the series conclusion. An initial crush on Haruhito Sugiyama evolves into support for his relationship with Yuri Sawamura after overcoming initial jealousy.

Character development occurs across both seasons. Early episodes focus on her adapting to dream purification missions while balancing school life and cheerleading. A notable shift involves emotional maturation regarding romance: she moves from harboring feelings for Haruhito to acknowledging and reciprocating Asahi's affection, though their relationship remains unconsummated. Key milestones include overcoming jealousy when Asahi interacts with other girls, such as Morimura's confession in Episode 19, and blushing at Mew's teasing about their compatibility in Episode 26. Her role culminates in becoming a "Princess of Dreams" in Episode 48 of *Mix!*, signifying growth and leadership in maintaining dream stability.

Her name, meaning "dream" or "vision," reflects her narrative function, while her surname Hinata translates to "sunny place," aligning with her optimistic demeanor.
