Ludman, formally called Rodrigo Briscoletti, is a prosperous nobleman residing in Mostroferrato, guardian of the Zenithian Sword—an artifact central to protagonist Luca’s quest to fulfill a prophecy. When Bjørn the Behemoose steals the sword, Rodrigo pledges his daughter Nera’s hand in marriage as a reward for slaying the beast, driven by urgency to shield his town and family. Though resolved to this harsh bargain, he ensures Nera’s safety remains paramount.

After Luca defeats Bjørn yet fails to wield the sword, Rodrigo upholds the betrothal. However, he readily accepts Luca’s shift in affection toward Bianca, revealing adaptability and empathy. His bond with Nera radiates tenderness, often addressing her as his “precious little bambina,” though tensions with an unnamed second daughter linger beyond the story’s focus.
