Hana is the head teacher and matriarch of the Akane Class, an all-female ninja village where interaction with men is strictly forbidden. She enforces this rule by teaching students that men are dangerous monsters to be feared—a deliberate falsehood instituted to prevent students from abandoning ninja training for romantic relationships after the Akane Class and male Aoi Class separated.

Physically, she has purple wavy hair typically worn in a low ponytail and light purple eyes. Her attire includes a purple short-sleeved kimono secured by a black obi over a fishnet bodysuit, with zori sandals worn outdoors.

Chronic hip pain occasionally impairs her mobility, leading her to frequently use the village onsen for relief while restricting student access during those times. In combat, she controls snakes of various sizes and demonstrates exceptional physical prowess, such as destroying tree sections or deflecting kunai with a finger.

As a teacher, Hana maintains a stern, composed demeanor and holds students to high standards, particularly Tsubaki, whom she considers a potential successor. She employs scare tactics to reinforce the anti-male doctrine, evoking fear even in confident students like Benisumomo.

Despite her rigid exterior, Hana harbors hidden depths, including a past romantic interest before the gender separation, evidenced by a hidden scroll depicting a scribbled-out male figure. She privately opposes the rule she enforces, feeling bound by her leadership role to uphold it. This internal conflict culminates when Tsubaki discovers the truth after Hana inadvertently reveals the deception during a game of tag by impersonating a man. Reflecting on her own unfulfilled desires, Hana eventually abolishes the rule in the manga's finale, allowing gradual intermingling between the Akane and Aoi Classes.
