Description
Guy Cecil, born Gailardia Galan Gardios, belonged to the noble House of Gardios in Hod. Kimlascan soldiers, commanded by Duke Fabre, slaughtered his family during the Hod conflict. He witnessed his sister Mary and other household women die protecting him, resulting in his survival beneath their corpses. This trauma induced severe gynophobia, an intense fear of physical contact with women, though the memory remained repressed for years.
After the massacre, he spent roughly five years in St. Binah under the care of Pere, a servant who taught him the Sigmund swordsmanship style. Fueled by vengeance, he infiltrated Duke Fabre's household in Baticul as a servant named "Guy Cecil." His initial plan involved harming the Fabre family, including Duke Fabre's son Luke. During this time, he allied with another Hod survivor, Van Grants, though Van withheld details about the kidnapping of Luke's original counterpart, Asch.
Serving as Luke's primary caretaker after Luke developed amnesia, Guy formed an unexpected bond, leading him to abandon his revenge. This internal conflict surfaced when Sync's "Cursed Slot" artifact caused Guy to attack Luke, exposing subconscious resentment. He later acknowledged suppressed rage toward the Fabre lineage but chose to prioritize his friendship with Luke. His gynophobia gradually lessened after recalling the source of his trauma during an incident where Pamela Tatlin protected Ion, mirroring his sister's sacrifice.
Guy is characterized by kindness, humility, and a strong moral compass. Despite his fear, he exhibits charm toward women and willingly assists others in danger, as demonstrated when rescuing Anise despite his phobia. He wields a slim sword using the agile Sigmund Style, emphasizing rapid strikes and combos, contrasting with the heavier Albert Style used by Luke and Van. His fighting techniques include artes like Sword Rain: Alpha and mystic artes such as Razing Phoenix.
In expanded media, Guy appears in multiple scenarios. In *Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2*, he initially mistakes protagonists for enemies while protecting an injured Luke, later joining their efforts to awaken Niata. In *Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave*, he pursues Luke after Luke activates the destructive Eternal Sword, resisting manipulation by the entity Elrane attempting to reclaim his revenge. He reaffirms his loyalty to Luke, aiding him in atoning for his actions. *Tales of Crestoria* depicts him alongside Natalia mediating conflicts involving transgressors like Kanata and Vicious. He also features in *Tales of Hearts* as an arena combatant and in *Tales of the Rays* through dimensional events.
