TV Special
Description
Julius B. Harwey, also documented as Julius Belkisk Harway or Julius Bistario Harway, is the illegitimate firstborn son of the plutocratic Harwey family. Created as a designer baby, he was deemed defective and powerless in the womb and discarded as worthless. Julius survived through sheer willpower. His early life involved severe experimentation, including kidney removal without anesthesia to test pain responses, reinforcing his status as a failure.
At six, his half-brother Leonardo Bistario Harwey was born. Julius formed a bond with Leo's mother, Alicia, who offered genuine maternal affection—his only experience of normalcy. This ended when the Harwey patriarch ordered nine-year-old Julius to assassinate Alicia, eliminating a potential obstacle to Leo's inheritance. On a moonless night, Julius carried out the killing. Alicia's final request was for him to protect Leo, a duty Julius accepted as his sole life purpose. This act granted him value to the Harweys, though relegated to their assassin unit. His body was forcibly aged through medications. Through determination, not talent or privilege, he rose to captain the Harwey Foundation's counter-terrorism division.
Physically, Julius appears as a 25-year-old man with shoulder-length black hair, blank black eyes, and a pale complexion. He wears a large black coat lined with fur, blue gloves, light blue zipper pants, and blue shoes. After resisting deletion in the Moon Holy Grail War, his hair becomes messier, his eyes tireder, and his face paler.
Initially cold and calculating, Julius focuses solely on eliminating threats to Leo's victory in the Holy Grail War. As an assassin, he employs any method, including ambushing Masters like Hakuno Kishinami before formal matches. His loyalty lies solely in fulfilling Alicia's wish, not the Harwey family. He occasionally displays an affinity for film, using multimedia for surveillance and comparing his traumatic past to a "badly-made movie."
In the Moon Holy Grail War, he serves as Master to Assassin (Li Shuwen) in a contentious partnership. Identifying Hakuno Kishinami—a fellow "garbage" being—as Leo's primary obstacle, he repeatedly attempts to kill them. After Hakuno defeats him in the fifth round, Julius resists digital deletion, becoming a vengeful ghost driven by fury and existential emptiness. His personality shifts to insanity and rage, viewing Hakuno as a mirror of his own discarded existence. He manifests a Reality Marble of "absolute hatred" within the arena. Ultimately, he finds fleeting solace in Hakuno's unexpected kindness before his final disappearance.
In the *Fate/EXTRA CCC* storyline, Julius operates in the Far Side's shadows. During BB's invasion, he and Leo strategize to counter her. When BB overwhelms Leo and Gawain, Julius intervenes with tactical support. In a critical moment, Leo sacrifices himself, using all three Command Spells to sever Gawain's contract and ensure the Servant's escape before BB consumes him. With his last act, Leo transfers leadership of the resistance to Hakuno, entrusting them with humanity's future. Julius's legacy persists through this sacrifice, reinforcing his lifelong role as the darkness protecting Leo's light.
