TV-Series
Description
Born from a burst of light emitted by a cherished green pencil Kokoro Yotsuba received from her grandmother in kindergarten, Rakitama hatched from a glowing egg. He is the Cocotama spirit of that colored pencil, an apprentice god embodying items deeply loved by humans. His full ceremonial name is "Lucky Lucky Tamakoronosuke-no-Mikoto," signifying his connection to fortune and divinity.
Visually resembling an orange hamster, Rakitama features creamy white or light orange markings on his paws, tail, face, and eyebrows. He has small floppy ears, two prominent head curls, and turquoise blue eyes. His tail distinctly mimics a colored pencil with a blue tip. Marking his apprentice status, he wears jagged-edged eggshell underpants adorned with a pastel green four-leaf clover emblem, standard for male Cocotamas.
Naturally inquisitive and playful, Rakitama often acts with reckless abandon. His mischievous and clumsy tendencies regularly lead to comedic or problematic situations. He maintains an optimistic outlook, frequently exclaiming his catchphrase, "Lucky!". Despite causing occasional trouble, he demonstrates genuine dedication to assisting Kokoro as her first contracted Cocotama. His powers focus on manipulating luck, but his magic frequently triggers unintended or extreme outcomes that complicate scenarios.
Residing with Kokoro and other Cocotamas under strict secrecy rules, Rakitama participates in group efforts, sometimes combining magic to navigate challenges or aid humans. A significant event involves Kokoro's temporary contract invalidation, forcing him and other Cocotamas to avoid her until renewal. His role reduces in the sequel series, appearing mainly in background cameos.
Rakitama also appears in the April 28, 2017 theatrical film. Beyond the anime, his presence extends to promotional activities, including serving as a spokesperson for TVPlus and participating in events like the Anime Film Festival in Tokyo and the Rokuichi Christmas Illumination.
