Description
Mogutan is a male Cocotama, a small god born from the thoughts and feelings of a treasured object. He was born from a fork that belonged to the Yotsuba family, and he is referred to as the Fork God. His full title is Mogu-Mogu Pekorita-no-Mikoto. In appearance, he resembles a yellow giraffe with cream markings on his face and paws, and he is larger and rounder than many of the other Cocotamas. The mark on his eggshell underpants is a violet chef hat.

Mogutan’s personality is dominated by his love of food. He has a huge appetite and is often sleepy, but he becomes highly excited whenever eating is involved. He is particularly fond of noodles and has a special fondness for marshmallows. He is laid-back and easygoing by nature, yet he can be quite headstrong when it comes to matters related to food. Despite his generally relaxed demeanor, he can also be slightly timid. His motivation is primarily driven by his desire to eat, and he can make anything taste delicious, a natural ability tied to his origin as the spirit of a fork. Over time, he has learned to cook and is shown to be a good cook.

In the story, Mogutan is one of the main Cocotamas who lives in the Cocotama House alongside the human girl Kokoro Yotsuba and the other Cocotamas that have made a contract with her. His role is that of a companion and a source of comic relief, often centered around his obsession with food. His key relationships are with the other Cocotama residents, including Luckytama, Melory, Oshaki, Geracho, Kirarise, and later others such as Sarine, Parine, and Mishil. He interacts with them in the daily life of the house, and his laid-back nature contrasts with the more energetic or strict personalities of his companions.

Mogutan’s development is subtle but present: while he begins as a character solely focused on eating, he grows to learn cooking skills, which allows him to contribute to the group in a practical way. His notable abilities include his talent for making any dish taste delicious and his capacity to eat large quantities without appearing full. As an apprentice god, he also possesses the standard Cocotama ability to perform magic by saying the phrase “Cocon Poipoi Cocottama,” though the specifics of his magic are less emphasized compared to his culinary traits.
