Description
Wald Richter, a middle-aged man with light combed-back hair and a glass eye bearing a crimson iris, sports a long suit and fedora while commanding hired thugs in Stohess District. Despite his criminal role, he enforces strict discipline, chastising uncouth conduct and scrutinizing threats with a concealed blade hidden in his ring. Tasked by Elliot Stratmann to retrieve his daughter Carly, Wald uncovers her entanglement in coderoin trafficking through her lover Wayne Eisner. Abandoning Elliot, Wald and associate Lou Meade conspire with Wayne to ransom Carly, holding her hostage in their Van Gelder Street office.
Their scheme unravels when they clash with undercover Military Police officer Annie Leonhart. Wald arranges her ambush, bribing a carriage driver to capture her and seize her ring. Discovering its poisoned blade, he tests it on her hand, unwittingly activating her Female Titan transformation. The explosive aftermath cripples Wald, allowing Lou to betray him with a fatal chest wound.
Bleeding out, Wald reveals Carly’s whereabouts to Annie, confessing their shift from retrieval to extortion. He bitterly mocks his near-victory before demanding answers about the destroyed carriage. Annie’s oblique Titan reference sparks his dying laughter, his final breath tinged with regret over unfinished ambitions. His allies later toast his demise during a raucous drinking celebration.
Wald’s partnership with Lou thrived on brittle distrust, culminating in Lou condemning his inflexibility and usurping leadership through murder. A strategist who favored professionalism over brutality, Wald navigated Stohess’ underworld with calculated precision, his downfall underscoring the treacherous loyalties and moral decay festering beneath the district’s surface.
