Description
Carly Stratmann, a chemistry graduate from Einrich College, resides in Stohess District. Her father, Elliot Gurnberg Stratmann, leads the once-thriving Marleen Company, a trading firm devastated financially after Wall Maria’s fall. To assist Elliot’s pursuit of restored fortune, Carly uses her academic expertise to manufacture coderoin, an illicit drug, under the strict condition that sales remain confined to the royal capital. Their nightly dinners, intended to discuss the trade, remain coldly transactional, underscoring a distant relationship defined by obligation over affection.

In written portrayals, Carly has light green eyes and vibrant red curls framing her shoulders, while anime adaptations depict her with long brown waves and brown eyes. She favors a white dress paired with a green crystal pendant, concealing herself under a hooded cloak during her escape from Stohess. Despite her relaxed exterior, she exhibits sharp observational skills and a methodical intellect, particularly when detailing coderoin’s chemical intricacies.

Frequenting the Pit Lidors tavern, Carly charms patrons with dances and free drinks, cultivating goodwill that veils her deepening remorse over the drug’s societal harm. Discovering Elliot’s breach of their agreement—distributing coderoin beyond the capital—sparks her resolve to halt production. She flees with her lover, named Wayne Eisner in texts and Kemper Boltz in anime, only to face betrayal as he plots with thugs to ransom her.

Military Police investigator Annie Leonhart tracks Carly during a disappearance probe. Carly admits her role in coderoin production, driven by sympathy for her father’s downfall, and begs Annie to fabricate her absence to avoid forced resumption of the trade. Annie supplies a forged travel permit to Wall Rose, facilitating Carly’s departure. Before leaving, Carly contemplates her tavern patrons’ obliviousness to irreversible ruin, mirroring her acceptance of her own irreversible choices.

Her bond with Elliot intertwines duty and bitterness: she initially aids him out of pity, but his deception drives her to cut ties. Interactions with Wayne/Kemper expose themes of betrayal, his self-interest clashing with her quest for autonomy. Carly’s final escape from Stohess cements her commitment to ending coderoin’s spread, choosing collective safety over fractured familial bonds.
