Description
Lou Meade is a hired thug living in Stohess District and the primary accomplice of Wald Richter. His appearance is disheveled, featuring unkempt hair, a patchy goatee, and ill-fitting clothing. Aggressive, uncivilized, and impulsive, he often drew Wald's ire for drinking during work. Lou exhibits opportunism, readily betraying Wald when offered leadership of their criminal operations.
Several days before the Survey Corps' 57th expedition, Lou joined Wald's team, hired by Elliot Stratmann to find his missing daughter, Carly Stratmann. They located Carly's lover, Wayne Eisner, who revealed Carly's coderoin involvement and whereabouts. Wayne paid Lou and Wald to blackmail Elliot. They imprisoned Carly at Wald's Van Gelder Street office, scheduling a handoff.
One day before the expedition, Lou drank at Pit Lidors tavern when a Military Police officer (Annie Leonhart) entered, showing a sketch of Carly. Lou denied recognition. Concerned, he alerted Wald, who ordered him to stake out Wayne's apartment. Lou later discovered Wayne's corpse and informed Wald. When Annie arrived at the apartment, they bribed her driver, ambushed her inside the carriage, and restrained her. Lou confiscated her silver ring.
During the carriage ride, Wald explained their plan to dispose of Annie in an industrial waste vat. Annie requested her ring's return, citing sentiment. Wald discovered its hidden blade and pricked her hand to test for poison. Annie then triggered an explosion with her Titan abilities, destroying the carriage and injuring Wald. Lou regained consciousness and shot Annie in the back. He turned on Wald, refusing help. When Wald accused him of Wayne's murder, Lou neither confirmed nor denied it, declared Wald outdated, and shot him fatally.
Lou returned to Wald's office, celebrating with fellow thugs. Annie interrupted the celebration. She incapacitated the other thugs. Lou attempted to shoot her. Annie deflected the bullet with a bottle, sending glass shards into Lou, then overpowered him. She forced his gun into his mouth, threatening silence about her involvement. Lou passed out from fear, and Annie retrieved her ring.
Lou's relationship with Wald was strictly professional, marked by resentment over Wald's demands for civility. His betrayal and murder of Wald underscored his self-serving nature.
