Description
Elliot Gurnberg Stratmann presides over the Marleen Company, a Stohess District-based trading enterprise inside Wall Sina. He ascended to leadership in 843 after the previous president's sudden death, having been widowed years earlier, leaving him with his daughter, Carly Stratmann.

Stratmann cuts a physically imposing figure: tall, broad-shouldered, and rugged, with a stern demeanor. His gray eyes and silver hair, combed back, accompany a thick mustache and a face bearing the marks of age. He consistently wears well-made suits, reinforcing his commanding presence.

Wealth preservation is Stratmann's paramount goal, pursued even through illegal means. He exhibits a detached, cold personality, commanding respect through sheer presence rather than overt threats. His relationship with Carly is transactional; their daily dinners serve as a boundary where neither inquires into the other's affairs.

Following Wall Maria's fall, the Marleen Company lost key partners, downsizing to carriage services. Carly, a chemistry graduate from Einrich College, created the illegal drug coderoin to restore her father's wealth. Stratmann agreed to distribute it solely within the royal capital but later betrayed this pact by expanding sales beyond. This prompted Carly to flee with her boyfriend, Wayne Eisner (Kemper Boltz in anime adaptations), who handled coderoin distribution.

Stratmann hired thugs Lou Meade and Wald Richter to find Carly. Discovering they had partnered with Wayne and were holding Carly hostage for ransom, he set a handoff date while simultaneously filing a missing person report with the Military Police. Recruit Annie Leonhart, assigned to the case, visited Stratmann ten days post-disappearance. He displayed intuitive skepticism about Military Police negligence but entrusted Annie after learning she was new.

A ransom note delivered by Wayne during Annie's visit prompted Stratmann to withhold this information. He later confronted Wayne at his apartment. An altercation ensued when Wayne tried to intoxicate him and steal his money, resulting in Stratmann killing Wayne. He hid the body and attempted to frame Lou and Wald by manipulating Annie's investigation towards them.

Confronted by Annie with evidence – his rare cigarette brand at the scene and his initial concealment of Wayne's involvement – Stratmann confessed to the murder. Annie unexpectedly declined to arrest him. Together, they disposed of Wayne's corpse in Stohess District's industrial waste. During the carriage ride back, Stratmann admitted the dinners with Carly primarily facilitated coderoin trade discussions. He invited Annie to dine, an offer she refused.

His relationship with Carly remains fractured post-events, showing no signs of reconciliation. The fallout from the coderoin trade and Wayne's murder likely triggered financial and legal repercussions for his business, though specific outcomes are unrecorded.
