Description
Takeshi Hoshino, an esper exhibiting latent psychic potential, is recruited into the Awakening Lab by Kenji Mitsuura. His striking appearance features long black hair styled in a downward pompadour covering one eye, long sideburns, dark blue eyes, and a prominently pointed chin. Handsome features are often visually emphasized by accompanying yellow sparkles. As the tallest among the Awakening Lab children, he wears a white high-collared jacket adorned with four red slits and four yellow buttons, paired with white bell-bottom pants and pointed black boots, evoking a resemblance to Elvis Presley.

Initially displaying a relaxed demeanor, Takeshi demonstrates politeness and maintains a cordial relationship with Kenji, whom he refers to as "old man." During a psychic demonstration for Ritsu Kageyama, he exhibits determination to showcase his newly awakened abilities. He reacts with amusement to Ritsu's initial failure to bend a spoon, expressing skepticism about Ritsu's psychic potential, but is visibly shocked when Ritsu later manifests significant telekinetic abilities. Takeshi's own telekinetic powers start feeble, limited to bending spoons with considerable difficulty. After training under Teruki Hanazawa, his abilities improve to lifting objects weighing up to 10 kilograms, and he combines his powers with Go Asahi to create temporary fiery barriers.

Introduced alongside fellow espers Rei, Go, and the Shiratori twins during Ritsu's tour of the Awakening Lab in the Big Cleanup arc, Takeshi's weak telekinetic display fails to impress Ritsu. He later observes Ritsu's frustration with mild amusement, revising his skepticism after witnessing the aftermath of Ritsu's uncontrolled power. In the 7th Division arc, Takeshi and the other Awakening Lab children are kidnapped by Claw members. Held captive with Ritsu, he experiences trauma from an illusion depicting Kaito Shiratori's murder, orchestrated by Muto, and participates in the group's escape, leveraging combined psychic efforts to unlock their cell.

During the World Domination arc, Takeshi joins Reigen's coalition to counter Claw's threats. He assists in diversionary tactics against Claw forces in the city, participates in defensive skirmishes at their headquarters, and is later tasked with retrieving Rei, Daichi, and Mukai from the sewers alongside Go and Kaito. His involvement extends to observing ???%'s rampage through Seasoning City with other Awakening Lab members and attending the Salt Middle School festival during the Divine Tree arc under Teruki's guidance.

Following Claw's dissolution, Takeshi appears at Reigen Arataka's birthday party alongside his peers from the Awakening Lab, marking his continued connection to the series' central characters.
