Description
Hiroto appears as an elementary school student in the sixth anime adaptation of GeGeGe no Kitarō. He is Sōma's younger brother and attends the same class as Yūta. Physically, Hiroto is short, sporting messy brown hair and blue eyes. His typical outfit consists of a short-sleeved blue T-shirt featuring a centered yellow star on a wide white stripe, layered over a long-sleeved black shirt, paired with red shorts, blue shoes, and white socks.

He frequently teases classmate Yūta, especially mocking his belief in yōkai. This behavior surfaces in the first episode when Hiroto ridicules Yūta's suggestion that a yōkai caused trouble at Shibuya Crossing. Mana intervenes, reprimanding Sōma instead of Hiroto. Later, Hiroto witnesses Mana depositing a letter into the Yōkai Post but vanishes with Sōma after Mana slips on a bottle. Mana subsequently notes Hiroto resumed bullying Yūta the next day.

Hiroto later attends a concert by "The Batteries," where Miage-Nyūdō transports the audience, including Hiroto and Sōma, to the Spirit World. They return confused after the yōkai's defeat. When the 808 Tanuki seize control of Japan's government, Hiroto and Sōma fall under their influence, wearing tanuki tails as symbols. They bully a child accused of being anti-tanuki until Mana intervenes. Hiroto threatens to report Mana to the Gyōbu-Danuki but retreats, vowing to target the child again later. Normalcy returns after the tanuki's defeat.

A significant change occurs after Hiroto and Sōma join Sora's team, having been rescued from Kizami's murderous attempt. During this time, Hiroto displays protectiveness toward bullying victims, confronting twin girls tormenting Saya. This experience catalyzes his remorse; he tearfully apologizes to Yūta for his past actions, embraces him, and promises reform. Committing to defend the weak and oppressed, Hiroto embraces redemption. As part of Sora's team, he receives a wind-elemental wand, aids in defending allies like Kisaragi, and trains to overcome his fears, particularly around Rena. His cowardice diminishes as he becomes a dedicated team member, participating in their missions.
