Description
Misty Honey appears in two distinct contexts within the Cutie Honey franchise.
In *Cutie Honey Universe*, Misty Honey serves as one of protagonist Honey Kisaragi's transformation forms. This music-oriented persona features an elaborate costume and functions as a strategic disguise. Honey adopts the Misty Honey identity during a mission to act as bait, successfully luring Panther Claw members Tarantula Panther and Tomahawk Panther, who subsequently abduct her.
In *Cutie Honey Flash*, Misty Honey is the primary transformation of Seira Hazuki, an artificial human created by the antagonistic organization DEUS (later Panther Claw). DEUS replicated Dr. Kisaragi's destroyed Matter Transformer technology using residual components. Surveillance footage revealed Kisaragi's love imprinted on one device, creating an infant resembling his deceased daughter, Honey Kisaragi. DEUS replicated this process using anger and hatred, resulting in Seira's creation. Raised and trained by the assassin robot Grey, she became a weapon against Honey.
Seira initially harbors intense resentment toward Honey, believing Honey received all their father's affection. As Misty Honey, she relentlessly attacks her rival. Her transformation activates via a ring and thigh strap with the call "Honey Flash", though her device restricts her solely to the combat-optimized Misty Honey form. She wields a variant of the Silver Fleurette sword; her signature attack "Honey Sexy Dynamite" fires an explosive energy beam from the sword's tip. She also occasionally employs a "Honey Boomerang".
A critical plot element is the "Mark of Hatred" placed on Seira's chest by Panther Zora, amplifying her negative emotions and generating monsters from her device. This curse manifests physically until the mark is removed and reconstituted into the clone Dirty Honey. Following Dirty Honey's defeat, Seira undergoes significant development: interactions with allies and civilians expose her to genuine kindness, challenging her worldview. She gradually abandons her vendetta, reconciles with Honey, and sacrifices herself by merging her Matter Transformer with Honey's. This act enables Honey to achieve "Hyper Honey" but costs Seira her life. In the series' conclusion, Honey and Seiji name their daughter after her.
Seira's personality evolves from coldly opportunistic to selflessly courageous. Initially aloof and manipulative, she masks her emotions behind a detached facade. Exposure to compassion and friendship—particularly through saving civilians and bonding with allies—reawakens her latent kindness and childlike innocence. By the story's end, she embraces her father's ideals of protecting humanity and accepts Honey as her sister.
