Description
Clover, a young boy inhabiting a decaying, isolated dimension, has pale white skin, green hair, dark green eyes, and pointed ears. He wears layered green garments with gold-patterned socks and green shoes. Initially trusting and friendly, he harbors deep curiosity about the outside world and an unwavering belief in promises, especially one made during Nono Hana's childhood visit to his realm. Hana accidentally entered his dimension while lost in Dublin, befriended him, and vowed to return to show him reality. Her inability to find her way back over time eroded his hope into profound despair.
This despair enabled Dark Onibi to deceive and possess him, forcibly transforming him into "Usobakka"—a monstrous alter ego with a black body, red accents, grey hands, and glowing red eyes. As Usobakka, bitterness and deception consumed him; he spread lies and attacked Pretty Cure teams, perceiving them as threats. His abilities included ensnaring foes with clover-shaped vines and gradually petrifying them into statues. The name "Usobakka," ironically meaning "not a liar," contradicted his manipulative actions under Dark Onibi’s control.
Hana’s eventual return alongside Cure Whip and Cure Miracle, aided by the Door of Time, allowed her to apologize and shatter Dark Onibi’s hold. Witnessing her enduring commitment softened Clover’s heart, redeeming him. After escaping his decaying world, he recognized Dark Onibi’s manipulation. To atone for Usobakka’s chaos, he sacrificed his life force to restore the captured Pretty Cures’ transformation devices, enabling their final battle. Following Dark Onibi’s purification, Clover escorted the purified flame to the afterlife. His physical form dissolved, scattering seeds across Earth’s fields as symbols of renewal and his final, unkept promise to Hana.
Symbolically, his name evokes the clover plant, representing good luck, protection, and remembrance of loved ones. His arc traces trust, betrayal, corruption, and redemption through self-sacrifice.
