OVA
Description
Hajime Hinata began as a talentless Reserve Course student at Hope’s Peak Academy before volunteering for the Izuru Kamukura Project—an experimental procedure that erased his memories and personality to craft Izuru Kamukura, a superhuman embodying every known talent. Though Hajime’s identity was suppressed, Izuru retained lingering subconscious ties to his past, preserving Chiaki Nanami’s hairpin and mourning her death despite his apathy toward a world he found predictable and dull.

During the simulated Killing School Trip on Jabberwock Island, Hajime awoke with amnesia, unaware of his transformation into Izuru. His sharp investigative skills and logical mindset unraveled the simulation’s truth, exposing his origins and the Remnants of Despair’s manipulation by Junko Enoshima. Emerging from the simulation, he merged Izuru’s talents with his own identity, marked by striking heterochromatic eyes—one red with a targeting reticle, the other green—symbolizing their fusion.

Post-simulation, Hajime confronted his insecurities over lacking innate talent, embracing his humanity as his core strength. Leveraging Izuru’s abilities, he revived comatose classmates from the Neo World Program and thwarted global brainwashing, leading the Remnants toward atonement.

In the OVA *Super Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the Destroyer of the World*, Hajime manifested as an Alter Ego within a virtual realm, tasked with dismantling Nagito’s delusional reality to resurrect the Remnants. His eyes transitioned to fully red, reflecting his “World Destroyer” role while maintaining his merged psyche.

Relationships deeply shaped his journey: his bond with Chiaki Nanami anchored him emotionally, while his rivalry with Nagito Komaeda underscored their clashing philosophies on hope and talent. Interactions with classmates like Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu and Gundham Tanaka revealed his empathetic leadership, traits that endured even after integrating Izuru’s persona.

Physically, Hajime evolved from a black Reserve Course uniform to casual attire post-merger. His eyes visually mirrored his duality—straight prohibition-like lines as Hajime, targeting reticles as Izuru. In awakened states, his hair briefly whitened with a lightning-like aura.

Though Izuru’s detachment contrasted sharply with Hajime’s emotional depth, their merged identity synthesized both traits. While capable of ruthless efficiency, Hajime’s humanity allowed vulnerability—guilt when exposing murderers during trials, resistance to full apathy—underscoring his complex reconciliation of self.
