Hinata Hajime started as a deeply insecure Reserve Course student at Hope's Peak Academy, consumed by a desire to become "special." This desperation drove him to volunteer for the Izuru Kamukura Project. The experimental procedure erased his memories and suppressed his personality to forge Izuru Kamukura, an emotionless superhuman possessing all known Ultimate talents. Izuru viewed the world with apathy and boredom, effortlessly predicting outcomes, yet held a subconscious attachment to Chiaki Nanami from Hajime's past. As Izuru Kamukura, he wielded superhuman analytical prowess, physical strength, reflexes, and luck. His actions unintentionally aided Junko Enoshima in orchestrating "The Tragedy," though he later opposed her. Within the Neo World Program simulation, Hajime's personality re-emerged in a virtual avatar unaware of his past as Izuru. Here, Hajime demonstrated realism, skepticism, and strong investigative skills, bonding with classmates, especially the AI Chiaki Nanami. This journey culminated in the traumatic revelation of his dual identity. After the simulation, Hajime and Izuru's personalities merged into one consciousness. This merged identity retained the name and primary appearance of Hajime Hinata, incorporating Izuru's heterochromatic eyes—red left, green right, both with target radar pupils. Physically, he kept Hajime's build, noted as more muscular than his clothing suggested. Personality-wise, the merged individual primarily reflects Hajime: pragmatic, occasionally snarky, capable of kindness and counseling. Izuru's influence manifests through sporadic boredom and analytical detachment. He accepted the coexistence of hope and despair, rejecting predetermined paths. This version utilized Izuru's talents—superhuman combat, analysis, and an unnamed ability to revive comatose individuals—while retaining human emotions and vulnerabilities. His actions included healing the brainwashed Remnants of Despair and helping stop Ryota Mitarai's brainwashing broadcast. In the Hope Arc, he and the healed Remnants of Despair accepted responsibility for their past actions, choosing atonement on Jabberwock Island. Chiaki Nanami remained a psychologically significant figure, symbolizing his reconciliation of identity and ideals. His arc concluded with a commitment to an uncertain future, embodying a synthesis of ordinary human vulnerability and extraordinary capability.
