Description
Theodore Constantine Pinochle commands the Pinochle automobile company, blending classic and modern car designs from its Shield, Spada headquarters. Simultaneously, he leads "High Card," a covert organization reporting directly to the royal family of the Kingdom of Fourland. High Card's mission is retrieving the scattered "X-Playing Cards," 52 mystical cards granting supernatural abilities, to prevent them from disrupting global power balances under the king's orders.

His service to Fourland's monarchy stretches back to his time as a royal carriage driver for the first king, evolving into his current oversight of High Card. He manages agents operating undercover at Pinochle's Old Maid branch. Theodore's administrative skill garners high regard in political and business circles, reinforcing Pinochle's reputation for tradition and prestige.

Personality-wise, Theodore communicates in a cool-headed, minimalist style with strict adherence to rules. He avoids personal relationships, including friendships and family bonds, believing they impair judgment. This detachment defines his interactions with his 14-year-old son, Leo Constantine Pinochle, whom he treats as a subordinate. Theodore frequently withholds information from Leo, lies to manipulate outcomes, and discusses only mission-related matters concerning the X-Playing Cards. He maintains a purely transactional dynamic with Bernard Symons, his trusted caretaker and High Card administrator, acknowledging Bernard's competence but nothing more.

His commitment to protocol is absolute; he once instructed police to fire on a criminal holding a hostage, prioritizing procedure over negotiation, believing exceptions inevitably lead to disorder. Theodore wields the Queen of Diamonds X-Playing Card, "Balor," granting enhanced vision capabilities to detect users of the 7 of Hearts card (invisibility) and potentially including X-ray vision.

Theodore's past includes a formative conflict with childhood friend Ban Klondike, future head of the Klondike mafia. They initially collaborated with police officer Greg Young at the Old Maid branch over the X-Playing Cards. Their partnership fractured due to ideological differences: Theodore insisted on strict adherence to royal protocols governing card usage, while Ban advocated for unrestricted application of the cards' powers. This divergence led Ban to pursue autonomy through the mafia, intensifying a years-long rivalry. A pivotal incident involving Ban's attempt to use the dangerous Joker card "San Galgano" (capable of "killing gods") cemented their enmity, with Ban resenting Theodore for limiting his potential.

During High Card operations, Theodore was kidnapped by the Klondike family, causing the team's activities to be temporarily suspended. His broader role involves concealing secrets about the X-Playing Cards' origins and history for the royal family, a responsibility unknown even to most High Card members and fueling suspicion from allies like Greg Young.
