TV-Series
Description
George Cry, also known as President Cry, serves as the main antagonist and president of the Cryasse Corporation (also called Criasu Corporation or Corporación Mañana Sombrío). His goal is to create a world of eternal, static happiness by freezing time to prevent any forward progress.
Hailing from a future timeline where humanity fell due to insatiable greed and the stagnation caused by "toge-power," he was motivated by the loss of a woman implied to be an alternate-timeline adult Hana Nono, his romantic partner. This loss, potentially stemming from societal rejection or childbirth complications, drove his descent into darkness and obsession with stopping time. He founded Criasu Corporation as a result.
Initially appearing as a shadowy hologram controlled by his subordinate Listol, his true form is a middle-aged man with black hair, small eyes, and a tired, aged appearance. While incognito in the present, he used the alias "George," sporting long grey hair, bright red eyes, a simple white top, black pants, and shoes. As president, his attire becomes elaborate: a white top with pale yellow neck lining, black pants with gold-lined indigo fabric, dark indigo boots featuring silver details and a yellow gem, and a pale blue jacket with indigo designs, black lapels adorned with yellow gems, shoulder pads, and an attached indigo pleat cape.
He presents a facade of gentleness, kindness, and sophistication, often carrying a book and expressing his dream of universal smiles. This masks a delusional and obsessive core. He employs any method necessary to achieve his goal, including kidnapping Hugtan for her powers and torturing Hana's teammates to manipulate her. He demonstrates coldness and unfaithfulness, notably cheating on his subordinate and girlfriend Papple with Gelos without remorse.
Despite his villainy, he exhibits a specific, deep interest in the present-timeline Hana Nono, frequently encountering her coincidentally or through intrusion. This connection is symbolized by flowers; he paints scenery reflecting his attachments and Hana's Cure Yell form, and gifts her craspedias (symbolizing "eternal blessing") and solidasters (symbolizing "eternity"). His fixation stems from knowing and loving the adult Hana from his original timeline, viewing the younger Hana as that lost love. Consequently, he avoids physically harming Cure Yell whenever possible, preferring persuasion.
His abilities center on manipulating "Tomorrow Powerer," the energy within Mirai Crystals and PreHearts, turning it into darkness to freeze time on a large scale. Key events include revealing his identity to Hana and stealing the Cures' Mirai Crystals while freezing time, though Hana breaks free to rescue Hugtan. He later attempts to recruit Hana by offering craspedias; her rejection prompts him to attack the present timeline and kidnap Hugtan again. Ultimately, he transforms himself into a giant Mou-Oshimaida using all his Prickly Powerer in a final effort to destroy the world. The Pretty Cures purify him using "Tomorrow With Everyone." In the collapsing Criasu building, he shares a final conversation with Cure Yell, moved by her words, calls her a "good girl," and disappears, accepting the need to let her go. He is last seen wandering a desert holding a clock before vanishing.
His surname "Kurai" (暗い) means "dark" or "gloomy," while "George" derives from Greek, meaning "farmer" or "to cultivate." He is the only Criasu member who remains in the present timeline instead of returning to the future. The narrative ambiguously hints he may become Hana's husband in an altered future, as a similar-looking man brings her craspedias after the birth of their daughter, Hagumi (Hugtan).
