Description
Liú Fēi-Yàn, trained as the second disciple of Kyokujuji Seiken under Wèi Ruì-Yīng, mastered this martial art derived from Hokuto Ryūkaken. Following his mother's death in childhood, Biāo Bǎifēng cared for him, fostering a bond where Liú Fēi-Yàn viewed Biāo as an elder brother. He initially worked escorting merchant convoys between Beiping and other regions. Feared in combat and initially cold-hearted, he earned the moniker "Death Bird Demon" (死鳥鬼, Sǐ Niǎo Guǐ). His path shifted when he became protector of Erika Arendt, a Jewish refugee safeguarding the "List of Hope." Dedicated to Erika's safety, he challenged Charles de Guise to a duel, perceiving him unfit to ensure her well-being. De Guise fell in the ensuing fight. This act provoked a confrontation with Kenshiro Kasumi. Though Kenshiro defeated him, Liú Fēi-Yàn's authentic concern for Erika and her positive influence prompted Kenshiro's forgiveness. Pān Yù-Líng later imparted a crucial lesson: true protection requires safeguarding the heart, not just physical strength. Fleeing pursuing Nazis, Liú Fēi-Yàn adopted the disguise of a priest in Shanghai. Within this role, he cared for Erika and orphaned children, demonstrating a profound shift toward compassion and responsibility. His martial prowess manifested in techniques like Kyokujuji Seiken's "Dancing Talon Explosion," leaping over foes to rapidly strike pressure points on their back in a cross pattern, and the perilously mastered "Dance of the Bird of Death," a "Thousand Hands" technique using widespread arm motions resembling flight to unleash relentless piercing strikes. Ultimately, he sustained mortal wounds battling Yàsǎ. Knowing death approached and unwilling to compound Erika's grief by dying before her, he requested Kenshiro place him in a boat set adrift at sea. Reflecting on Erika's kindnesses in his final moments, he perished. His abilities included inflicting "Blood Stripe Beheading," damaging attackers based on its level, and gaining "Bloody Kiss (Fei-Yan)" levels that enhanced his offense while reducing enemy chi and increasing his own. Accumulating sufficient levels allowed him to enter the amplified "Death Bird Demon" state.
